Brief Description

The 2008 Dallas White Rock Marathon, presented by NexBank, showcases the best of Dallas, with a full weekend of events sure to please everyone from the runner to the rest of the family. Enjoy the exhibits at the Doctor's Hospital at White Rock Lake Health & Fitness Expo, or play in the Kid Zone. Take in the fun run the day before, or save yourself for the big race on Sunday. Everyone enjoys the post-race party, with indoor & outdoor entertainment.

Race poster - $15
Runners cannot run the Half Marathon with a full or relay marathon bib. If you cross the half marathon finish line with a full marathon or relay bib, you will not receive a medallion or any finisher rewards. A correct bib is required to cross any finish line.

 

Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is one of the nation's leading pediatric centers for the treatment of orthopedic conditions, certain related neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia. There is no charge to patient families for treatment at the hospital, and admission is open to Texas children from birth to 18 years of age. Participants are encouraged to raise additional funds for Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children by creating a pledge page. You can do this by clicking on the Pledge Page link from our web site or during registration, and then asking your friends and loved ones to donate to your page to help the kids at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Running a marathon for the kids is a great way to finish off year 2008.

Packet Pick-Up

The Doctor's Hospital at White Rock Lake Health & Fitness Expo takes place at the Dallas Convention Center. Hours are Friday, Dec. 12th from 12:00 to 6:00 and on Saturday, Dec. 13th from 9:00 to 6:00. All race packets must be picked up at the Expo. Parking is available at surrounding surface lots or in the parking garage for a fee. DART stops underneath the Dallas Convention Center, making it a convenient alternative to driving. There is no race day packet pick-up.

 

Host Hotel

The Hyatt Regency - Dallas is the official host hotel for 2008 Wellstone's Dallas White Rock Marathon. Reservations can be made at the hotel via a link from our web site, or by calling 800-233-1234 (local calls - 214-651-1234). There is a special 4:00pm late checkout time on Sunday for marathon guests (if requested).

 

Parking

Parking for the Expo/Packet Pick-Up is available at surface lots surround the Dallas Convention Center, and in the Dallas Convention Center parking garage. DART service is available to the Dallas Convention Center, stopping underneath the convention hall.

Race day parking is available at the American Airlines Center and at surrounding surface lots. Parking at the American Airlines Center is offered at a discounted price of $5.00. There are no in & out privileges.

The Hyatt Regency Dallas serves as the Host Hotel and location of the Saturday night Pre-Race pasta Dinner, with world class runners serving as guest speakers.

The two day Doctor's Hospital at White Rock Lake Health and Fitness Expo is held at the Dallas Convention Center - Hall C. The Expo runs starting Friday afternoon from 12:00pm – 6:00pm and on Saturday from 9:00am - 6:00pm and serves as packet pick-up for all race participants.

A 5K Mayor’s Race and Fun Run takes place at Dallas City Hall 9:00am Saturday morning. Structured as a low key family event, the Mayor’s 5k is the perfect opportunity to get in one last easy run.

The 39th running of the Dallas White Rock Marathon, presented by NexBank features a prize purse, approximately 40 bands and 25 aid stations along the scenic course, a party zone outside the American Airlines Center and the “I Rocked” post-race party inside the American Airlines Center. The 26.2-mile certified marathon course begins and ends at the American Airlines Center. Along the course the runners pass through the wooded Turtle Creek area, prestigious Highland Park, around White Rock Lake, through beautiful Lakewood and down the Swiss Avenue historical district.

The Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay races will have a new, wave start, with the first wave starting at 8:00am and followed shortly thereafter by the remaining wave(s).
