Brief Description

Fresh ocean air, beautiful beach scenery, and a 1/4 mile segment on the sand make this the ultimate race for beach lovers! Runners and walkers will gather at the tip-top of the Outer Banks to race across this unique 3.12 mile course. There is also a short, non-competitive Tiny Turtle Kids’ Fun Run for ages 10 & under. The event is a “green” race, incorporating eco-friendly practices. All proceeds go to Corolla Ocean Rescue, helping the local lifeguards keep our beaches safe.

Directions

From the southern beaches, take route 12 north through Duck. Once in Corolla, turn right at the 2nd light at Albacore Street. Monterey Plaza is located next to the Tomato Patch on the opposite side of the parking lot from the Food Lion.

One World Running will have a drop box for runners and spectators to donate old, worn-out athletic shoes to be re-furbished or recycled. Please bring your old shoes on race day to help those in need and the environment!

Additional Information

Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers, and to the top finisher in each age group. There is also a special prize for the "Most creative ZINK-face"! A table will be set up where participants can paint their faces with colorful Zink suncreen–the classic lifeguard sun protection. Not only is there a prize for the craziest usage, but you’ll be practicing smart skin-cancer prevention! Last minute registration will be available in person ($25 cash or checks only) Saturday, May 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Corolla Surf Shop in Monteray Plaza and until 7:15 a.m. on race morning. We cannot guarantee a tee shirt for last minute registrants. This event is open to runners and walkers of all levels and paces. Strollers, bikes, and dogs are prohibited for participants, but welcome for spectators.
