Brief Description

The race will include a 5K, 1 Mile Run/Walk for all ages and a Tot Trot for Toddlers (ages 18m-5yrs). Pre-registered runners will receive a long sleeve t-shirt. Those who register after Feb 24th are not guaranteed a T-shirt on race day. Packet pick-up and day-of registrations will begin at 7am. The One Mile run will begin at 8:00am. The 5K will begin at 8:30am. The Tot trot will begin at 9:30am.

Our Children! The goal of the JL's ‘Run for the Kitchen’ is to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and help reverse the growth of childhood obesity and its associated health issues. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Junior League’s programs and support projects that focus on our signature issue, The Healthy Child. Childhood Obesity Facts

•Childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 yrs. •The % of children aged 6–11 yrs in the US who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to nearly 20% in 2008. PREVENTION

•Healthy lifestyle habits, including healthy eating and physical activity, can lower the risk of becoming obese and developing related diseases. •The dietary and physical activity behaviors of children and adolescents are influenced by many sectors of society, including families, communities, schools, child care settings, medical care providers, faith-based institutions, government agencies, the media, and the food and beverage industries and entertainment industries.

Additional Information

Chip Timing will be provided. All Fun Run participants will recieve a medal. The overall top three finishers in the 5K will receive awards.
