Through Active.com, you can sign up for the entire series (4 races) or individual races as you desire. Please note the different registration categories.

Fees

Fees will vary depending upon whether you choose to compete in an individual race or the entire series. They will also vary if you opt-in for the cool commemorative "schwag" which this year includes a running beanie cap and and two 2013 Winter Series glasses. A discount is provided those who sign up for the entire series and Race 1. AND if you are a PPRR member, or SRC member or YMCA member.

Winter Series 2013

This is THE COOLEST RACE IN TOWN. How tough are you? Keep your running going through the winter by doing the series. If you opt-in for the "double double" combo, you"ll get a warm running beanie cap and two 2013 Winter Series pint glasses, from which you can consume your favorite recovery drink. Sign up for the series or volunteer.

Winter Series

The series consists of four (4) progressive-in-length (LONG AND SHORT) races. The courses are gravel/ paved roads and packed trails, which may or may not be snow-packed, icy or muddy. Altitude will vary from 6,000 feet to 7,500 feet. Temperatures will range from 50 degrees to -25 degrees. Races will be cancelled if extremely bad weather exists on race day.

Please !!

No dogs or baby strollers allowed on the course. Please do not trespass onto private property. Per PPRR race rules, headphones, I-pods, or MP3 players may not be used during the race. Those not in compliance will be disqualified.

Race #1 - January 12, 2013 - 3.3M or 7M

Cheyenne Mountain State Park. I-25 and South Nevada. Take Highway 115 south toward Fort Carson and Canon City. The park entrance will be on the right side (west) of Highway 115, directly across from the main gate to Fort Carson (traffic signal). Arrive early and please carpool. Parking is very limited inside the park and once the lots fill, the ranger will no longer admit any vehicles. No exceptions. Carpooling will be critical.

Race #1 - continued

There will be no race parking at the Visitor's Center. Please continue past the entrance station and turn left into the main parking lot at the finish area. Registration is inside the Visitor's Center which is a 1/4 mile walk from the main parking area. Race start is in the Visitor's Center parking lot.

Race #1 - continued

The course is mostly on trails, primarily signletrack, with the potential for snowy, icy, and muddy conditions. Proper footwear for such conditions is recommended (Yaktrax or Kahtoola's). There are two aid stations on the Long Course and one on the Short Course.

Race #2 - January 26, 2013 - 4M or 8M

El Pomar Youth Sports Center. Interstate 25 -Exit 138 (Circle Drive). Travel east 4 blocks to Janitell Road South (McDonald's). Turn south and go 3 blocks and turn east onto Executive Drive. East and south for 2 blocks to the entrance of the Sports Center. Lots of parking available. Staging area is Sports Building. The course is a fast out-and-back trail primarily on the Pikes Peak Greenwayl. There are three aid station on the Long Course and two on the Short Course.

Race #3 - February 9, 2013 - 5M or 10M

Santa Fe Trailhead at Baptist Road in Monument. 5M or 10M. Interstate 25 to Exit 158 (Baptist Road). West at stop light for .3M. Staging area is the main parking lot at the trailhead. the course is similar to Race #2, but is much more exposed. It can be very cold due to the winds. There are three aid stations on the Long Course and one on the Short Course.

Race #4 - February 23, 2013, 2010 - 10K or 20K

HARRY'S VALLEY OF THE DOGS! - Wolford Elementary - Black Forest, 10K or 20K - Interstate 25 -Exit 153 (Interquest Parkway). Drive 2M east and north to Shoup Road. Turn right (east) onto Shoup Road for 4.2M to stoplight. Turn left (north) onto Black Forest Road for 1.6M. Traffic control will direct you to the parking areas. Staging area is at the front of the school.

Begin Race Day Registration: 08:45 a.m., Begin Bib Pickup: 09:00 a.m., Long Series start time: 10:00am, Short Series start time: 10:20 am

Team Scoring Criteria (Coed)

Minimum of 4 runners per team, minimum of 3 finishers per team per event, minimum of 1 female per team, minimum scored of 1 female per team, minimum of 1 male per team, minimum scored of 1 male per team.

Team Scoring Criteria (Male / Female)

Short Series Only, Minimum of 4 runners per team, minimum of 3 finishers per team per event, the scoring calculations are based on the first 3 finishers of each team.

High School Team Challenge

Teams are Male or Female or Coed. Coaches are encouraged to participate.

Athena and Clydesdale Challenges

Clydesdale (males over 190 lbs) and Athena (females over 160 lbs).

Open Team Challenge

Teams are Male or Female or Coed. Information: Event Director.

PLEASE....DO NOT TRESPASS ONTO PRIVATE PROPERTY. Show respect and act like responsible guests. Parking at some venues will be at a premium. Carpool if you can. The courses will close at 1:30pm. At that time, the PPRR van will pick up those who have not finished that particular race. Contact the Event Director if you want to start a race earlier than the stated time. This recorded time will be unofficial and will not be part of award recognition. Participant must complete full series (short or long) entirely to be considered for any awards. Hot chocolate/cider and doughnuts provided at the finish line at all venues. By signing up for the series in full by the 2nd event, or by volunteering, you will receive a "double-double" - a warm beanie and two pint glasses from which yuo can consume your favorite recovery drink.
