Brief Description

Sweden is closer than you think! The 7th Annual Triathlon will again feature the friendly Swedish communities of the Chisago Lakes Area. Paradise Park offers an eagle eye’s view of the swim course. The Swedish influence abounds throughout the event as you finish under the Swedish Flag. The swim is at beautiful Paradise Park on Chisago Lake. The bike heads along scenic Chisago County roads. Enjoy friendly neighborhoods as you run through Chisago and its surrounding cities.

Minnesota State Championship Series

The Chisago Lakes Half Iron is the 2012 Minnesota State Championship Series Long Distance Triathlon Championship. For more information CLICK HERE

USAT Certified Event

All participants must have have an annual USAT membership or purchase a one-day license for $12. The results will be scored and posted in the annual national rankings.

Youth Triathlon

Event starts and finishes at Paradise Park. Each age group has achievable distances. Swim swim course is parallel to the shore, never over waist deep. Helmets are MANDATORY. Swim caps provided.

Distances:

Ages 13-15: 800 ft swim, 4-mile bike, 1-mile run

Ages 9-12: 400 ft swim, 2-mile bike, 1/2-mile run

Ages 6-8: 200 ft swim, 1-mile bike, 1/4-mile run

Ages 4-5: 100 ft swim, 1/2-mile bike, 1/8-mile run

At Paradise Park:

- Friday, July 20, 4-8 p.m.

- Saturday, July 21, 7:30-8:45 a.m. (youth only) & noon-5 p.m. (adults),

- Race day, 4:30-6:45 a.m.

RACE MORNING DETAILS

STINSON AVENUE SHUTS DOWN AFTER 6:10 am. PARKING AVAILABLE ON STREETS AROUND PARK. PARKING FOR HALF IRON ONLY ACROSS FROM PARADISE PARK AT CHUCKIE LINDQUIST PARK.

Distances

Half: 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run Sprint: 1/4 mile swim, 22 mile bike, 3.1 mile run

Swim Course

The swim is at Paradise Park on Chisago Lake. Plenty of buoys on the course and available to use as resting points. Large and colorful balloon arch at the swim finish. Wetsuits may be worn. Swim caps are MANDATORY and will be provided by Midwest Sports Events.

Bike Course

The bike route heads west out of Paradise Park traveling north on Hwy 30 and then on quiet Chisago County roads. There are a few rolling hills, but is mainly a flat course. Mile markers are every 5 miles.

Enjoy friendly neighborhoods who come out to support the event with water, Hammer Gel, sprinklers, music and much more! Every mile will be marked.

Awards

Awards to the top female and male and age group winners in both distances in 5 year age categories 10 and under, 11-14 to 99 plus. Awards to the top 3 relay teams and Athena & Clydesdale. Participation Medals to all individuals who complete the Half Ironman!

Midwest Sports Events Amenities

All participants receive a dri wick shirt, goody bag,chip timing and plenty of entertainment! Finishers' medals for the Half Iron.

Midwest Sports Events Refund Policy

There will be NO REFUNDS issued for ANY reason. There are absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy.

TRANSFER FROM 2012 TO 2013 EVENT There will be NO TRANSFERS from this year's event to future year events.

RACE FEE TRANSFER There will be NO TRANSFER OF FEES from one race to another.

TRANSFER TO ANOTHER ATHLETE Race fee can be transfered to another individual, however there is $10 processing fee to complete the transfer.
