Brief Description

Courses: RUN - full, half, 10K, 5K (Sat)

The full & half begin in downtown Charleston by the SC Aquarium,heading South on East Bay, passing Rainbow Row, nearing White Point Gardens we head West then North on King Street towards the Old Navy Base. The half will end & full will continue. 10K & Hunley Hustle 5K start at this finish line.

CHS is a "sea level" town. Routes are flat, no climbs except a few overpasses. Many will set "PR" on these courses.

All courses are certified by USATF and qualify for major events.

Courses: BICYCLE (Sun)

Bicycle routes on Sunday are 30 & 60 Mi. They begin at the Maritime C, W. Calhoun St, N. Rutledge, E. Murray Blvd, S. on East Bay, cross the Arthur Ravenel Bridge, thur Mt Pleasant, Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms and then back.

There will be rest stops every 15 miles with home made treats,eats, sports drink, and water. We will also have clothes drops, so you can shed a layer as the temperature rises.

Support vehicles will be on route with two way radio communications.

Start/Finish:

The half&full begin near Gaillard Municipal Auditorium at 75 Calhoun St, and Ansen St There is parking at the SC Aquarium garage.

The finish for the full&half & start for10K & 5K at the Old Navy Base. This is where parking is for Friday night. Enter 1551 Cosgrove Ave Ext, N Charleston, SC 29405 in your GPS, or exit I26 at 216-B and go 1.4 miles to the parking-finish areas.

Shrimp and Grits:

Shrimp & Grits is included with your BIB number (free) at finish line for all runners.

Volunteers will also be provided with Shrimp and grits by a wrist band that is picked up at volunteer check in.

Only family, friends, and non-participants or non-volunteers will need to pay a small fee for shrimp and grits; credit cards, cash, or checks welcome on Saturday morning.

Tshirt:

Each participant will receive a long sleeve performance T shirt with four color art work as part of their registration fee. Extra shirts are available for advance purchase at $20 each. Walk up T shirts will be higher.

Bussing:

We will provide optional bus service for $3.00 on Sat from finish line at the Old Navy Base to near 75 Calhoun St, Chas, SC 29401 and back to finish

Bus service will begin at 6:30AM at the Navy Yard at Noisette and will continue at 3:00PM. Buses will depart each 30 minutes or when full.

Parking:

If you do not wish to park at the finish line at the Old Navy Base (exit 216-B off I-26 then to dead end), and leave your car over night, the garage at the S.C. Aquarium will allow free parking with bib number which is within 4 blocks of the start line at75 Calhoun St. See the attached picture showing the Maritime center, SC Aquarium, and the parking lots, with sponsoring hotels.

We only send confirmations by email. If you send a hand written registration be sure to clearly and slowly record ALL your information. If you do not have an email address use a friend's email. We only send email communications and confirmations.

Sports Drink:

The Riverfront Race Festival will provide water and old faithful, GREEN Gatorade, mixed as the directions state. If you wish to make it weaker, there will be water at all aide stations.

There will be ample cups, water, and Gatorade at all aide stations. As the race nears we will email more details on water/aide locations as well as other details on the events and Festivities.

Communications:

There will be 2-way radio provided by the Charleston Amateur Radio Society at each mile marker. Should you have an "on course" need please look for these stations at each mile marker and at each water/aide station. All two way radio stations will be in touch with RACE COMM who is in touch with medical, law enforcement, fire, EMS, and race management.

Bathrooms:

There will be porta-johns at the start and finish lines and at each water/aide station.

Refunds:

Our event is rain or shine. no refunds. Should we have weather conditions that make the course unsafe, like ice, we will postponed to later in the morning or the next day.

I have lived in Chas 56 Years and NEVER had icy road ways more than just a short time in the morning, and this occurred in 1973, 1989, and 2010. Icy roads only lasting a few hours.

We have a plan for the worst and hope for the best. Our events will occur!

No-Show/ How do I get optional Tshirt-race packet:

If you can not come and want your optional T shirt and other information mailed to you, there is a $4.00 charge. Please send check to Charleston Marathon before Jan 28, 2011. All participants that pay for shipping by Jan 28 will have their packets mailed by Feb 14, 2011. Mail check with proof of registration to Charleston Marathon, 3005 W Montague Ave, N Chas, SC 29418.

Awards:

We will send an email out with the schedule for awards. Should you look on line and see you won an award but fail to pick it up at the race, you are welcome to come by 3005 W Montague Ave, N Charleston, SC 29418 and pick up your award. Awards will only be held until Feb 15, 2011.

Transfers:

We want to award places to the correct entry, correct age group winners, and correct male or female. Please DO NOT give your race to another person!

You are welcome to send us an email and request we transfer your race registration to another participant or to a different distance provided this is requested by email before January 10, 2011.

Please help us keep the race and the awards fair by communicating with us if you wish to transfer your bib number. THANK YOU!

The Riverfront Race Festival will occur during Martin L. King, Jr. weekend each year.
7:00am - Packet pickup and late registration 8:10am - National Anthem
8:30am - Full Marathon (times subject to change) 8:35am - Half Marathon 9:15am - 10K 9:20am - Hunley Hustle SUNDAY JANUARY 16TH
On Sunday January 16 there will be an optional 62 and 30 mile bicycle ride starting at 8:30am. The course will begin at the Maritime Center and head over the Arthur Ravenel Bridge to Mt Pleasant and the beaches.

THE COURSE IS VERY FLAT!

Pre-Race Dinner & Expo
The pre race awesome dinner, vendor expo, and packet pickup will occur Friday January 14 from 4:00-8:00.

Fees
Full Marathon:
$95 ends Jan 13, $100 walk ups ?

Half Marathon:
$75 before Jan 13, $80 walk up

10K:
$40 before Jan 13, 50 walk up

Hunley Hustle5K:
$30 Jan 13, $35 walkup.

Bike Ride:
$40

There is a small fee for the optional Techno-wicking T shirt. This is a benefit festival for ARTS in Chas County Schools.

Packet pick up for pre registered participants and walk up registration is from 4-8 Fri and 7:00-7:45 Sat at start of each race location.
