History
This race was first put on this spring, and now it will be held again this fall. In April, Raymond Dodson won the cross-country race in 20:20. Becky Wiles won the women’s competition with a 24:23 effort
Starting Times
The 5k is the first race of the afternoon beginning at 2 pm; the mile starts at 2:30 pm.
Competitive vs Recreational in the 5K
Recreational Runners/Walkers: Those who choose this are eligible for any awards and do not receive an official finishing time. Their entry fee is $20 ($25 after October 15).
Competitive Runners/Walkers: Those who choose this classification want to be eligible for awards and/or just want to get an official time which will appear in the results. Their entry fee is $25 ($30 after October 15).
T-shirts
T-shirts can be ordered fo an addiitonal $8.
5K Awards
In the 5K run, awards will be given to the first three males overall, to the first three females overall, to the first three master finishers if each sex, and to the first three finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes); 12-under, 13-19, 20-92, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over.
Packet Pickup/Late Registraion
Race packets can be picked up and late entrants can register either on Friday evening, October 23, at the Great Harvest Bread Company located at 1220 NW Maynard Road in Cary OR on race day in Bond Park beginning at 12 noon.
About the Carying Place
The race is being put on by The Carying Place – a non-profit organization operating a transitional housing program in Wake County for homeless working families with children. For more information on The Cary Place, go to www.thecaryingplace.org.
