History

In 2012 this race had a field of 337 entrants. Ryan Kaat won the race in 16:46 establishng a new course record for the event. Sophie Evans won the women’s competition 22:13. Meghan Hegarty and Jennifer Curitn share the women’s course record of 20:23.

Course info

Once again, the race will be run on the cross-country courses held at WakeMed Soccer Park located at 201 Soccer Park Drive in Cary. The route being used is the same one used for the New Balance Reindeer Romp in December.

5K Entry fees/T-shirts

The entry fee is $25, increasing to $30 after April 6th. The fee includes a t-shirt guaranteed to all those registered by the April 1st. Participants can either register as a “competitive” or a “recreational” participant. The competitive runners will be issued chips, will receive official times, and be eligible for awards. The recreational runner/walker will not receive an official time but will be able to see his/her finishing time in a digital clock at the finish line.

Late Registration/Packet Pickup

Late entrants can register and pre-registered runners can pick up their packets either at Omega Sports located at 4120 Main at North Hills on Friday, April 12th, from 5-7 pm or on race day at start/finish area beginning at 7:30 am.

Awards

Awards will be presented to the first three males overall, to the first three females overall, and to the first-place finisher in each of the following age groups: (both sexes) 13-under, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, and 70-over.

Race Beneficiary

Profits from the race will benefit the Greater Raleigh Young Life, a non-denominational Christian outreach for teenagers.
