Brief Description

Multiple Competitive Sporting events are offered at the annual Carlsbad Beach Fest including: Beach Triathlon & Duathlons, One Mile Ocean Swim, SUP Races, 5K Beach Run/Walk, Kids One Mile Fun Run, Pro/Amateur Surf Contests, and Zumba!. All events are marked, timed, and staged at Tamarack Beach beginning at 8am. The entire festival takes place on one mile of beach with live music, food, and fun until 4pm. Participation is expected to exceed 12,000 people! Register early!

Subject to Change: 8:00am - 5K Run/Walk & Surf Contests; 8:05 - 1 Mile Swim; 9:00 - 6 Mile Paddle; 10:45 - 1 Mile Paddle; 9:45 - Kids Fun Run; 12:00 - Beach Tri/Duathlons;

Beach Triathlon: The Carlsbad CRAWL

Starts with 1/4 mile Swim, sprint to 10 yard netted crawl on sand, to 30 yard sprint over sand hills, to finish with 1 mile paddle (SUP or Prone)

6 & 1 Mile Paddle

Both are SUP or Prone: 6 mile paddle course is a water start and finish, looped triangle just off shore, buoy marked, stop watch timed; 1 mile paddle course is beach start & finish with marked rectangle (600 meters out, 300 meters south, 600 meters back to shore) and is chip timed.

5K Run & Walk

Course is a 3.2 mile loop on sand; runners release first; both are chip timed.

Duathlons

Course: Choose 1/4 swim & 1 mile run OR 1 mile run & 1 mile paddle (SUP or Prone); run is looped on sand; both events are chip timed

1 Mile Swim

Course: Buoy marked rectangle - 600 meters out, 300 meter south, 600 meters back to shore; shore marker will be well visible; must wear own swim cap to be chip timed

Kids 1 Mile Fun Run

Course: for children 11 years and under (free!); looped marked course on sand; parent assistance ok; every child gets a finishing metal.

Zumba

Dance fitness lead by local pros on the sand to recorded world & latin music pumping in the ocean air - the ultimate rush! Two sessions available: 11am-12:30pm and 1-2:30pm

Packet Pick-Up

Packets may be picked up day before event on Fri. June 14, 5-7pm, at Road Runner Sports 5617 Paseo Del Norte #100, Carlsbad. Event Day check-in, packet pick-up, and registration will open at 6:30am at Tamarack State Beach. Pre-registered participants picking up packets on Event Day must Check-In 30 minutes before their start times.

Carlsbad Beach Fest Mission

Beach Fest provides competitive sports, free activities, live music, food, and fun all day on one mile of beach. It's mission is to raise environmental awareness on a grand scale by promoting good beach and ocean stewardship to all who come to enjoy the event. Beach Fest is a project of the Carlsbad Beach Foundation, a non-profit which partners with CA State Parks, City of Carlsbad, and corporations, such as NRG and Life Technologies, to produce and establish it as a legacy community event.

Additional Information

The 6th annual Carlsbad Beach Fest offers many competitive sporting events and free beach/water activities, demos & clinics. On one mile of beach, Carlsbad Beach Fest promotes good beach stewardship and raises funds to help sustain this great event and support local coastal improvement projects. It is a project of Carlsbad Beach Fest Foundation, a non-profit organization which works to preserve the beaches that our coastal community enjoys.
