Brief Description

The World Class Canmore Nordic Centre will host the new 50km Grizzly Ultra Ski Marathon & Relay. This former Olympic venue has an extensive network of trails offering many types of terrain suitable for all abilities. The Grizzly Ultra has 5 individual legs of varying difficulties for team members to choose from.

Team Info

Teams may have less than 5 individuals if skiers wish to complete multiple legs. The team fee is the same regardless of the number of people on a team. The fee is charged per team, not per person. Team captains may add / delete or substitute team member names any time after registration until 14 days prior to the event at no cost by emailing tony@smithevents.ca Relay categories include: all male, all female and mixed.

Ski Techniques Permitted

Classic and / or Skate techniques are both permitted. There will not be separate technique categories for awards / results.

The Canmore Nordic Centre

Developed for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, the Canmore Nordic Centre remains a world-class facility. The Centre was significantly renovated in 2005 to re-establish itself as one of the top cross country ski destinations in the world. Come enjoy the great outdoors in the company of Olympians.

Additional Information

Team up for the 5 person relay or tackle the entire 50km as a solo participant. All 5 legs will start and finish in the main cross country stadium. Each leg has been graded for level of difficulty by adding distance to the total elevation gain. The most difficult (Leg 1) has been rated at 5 Claws on the scale while Leg 5 received a rating of 1 Claw categorizing it it as the least difficult.
