Brief Description

The Heartbreak Ridge Half Marathon is a 13.1 mile off-road course. Tech shirts for all participants. Chip timing. FREE Kids 1K Fun Run - finisher medals to all kids!

Schedule

Day of race registration and t-shirt pick-up open at 6:30 a.m. Half Marathon race starts at 8:30 am – wave starts for safety on the course. 8:05 am start for the Free Kids 1K Fun Run for ages 14 & under. Finisher medals to all in the 1K non-timed event.

Course

13.1-mile course, 90% gravel off-road through the breathtaking rolling hills of Camp Pendleton in the 43 area. Course is on packed fire-roads. This race draws over 1,000 runners who compete for awards in 50 categories. This course offers a little bit of everything - it’s an out and back course, including rolling hills and some flat and fast stretches intermixed throughout. Course support is plentiful with water/electrolyte replacement and medical aid stations throughout.

Directions

Take I-5 North to the Las Pulgas exit. Follow RACE EVENT signs to the race site. When coming aboard the base, make sure to have a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, & vehicle registration. Please allow 30 minutes from the gate to the site.

Categories

Military and Civilian Divisions offer categories for Age Group, Clydesdale (male 200 lbs.+), Athena (female 160 lbs.+), and Challenged Athlete. Age groups are 13-19 (18-24 military), 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54 (50+ military), 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80+

Rules

Minimum age for participating is 13 years old in the half marathon. Events are held rain or shine. Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. Sorry, no dogs, strollers or baby joggers on the course. Headphones and ear buds are prohibited during the event (base rules). Liability waiver must be signed by all participants on race morning. Please note: there is a 3 hour time limit on the completion of the course.

Results/Awards

11:00 am awards ceremony for the top 3 overall males and females. Awards pickup for age group winners will take place throughout the morning. Awards given to the top 3 overall finishers as well as to the top 3 in each division. Results will be posted at 3:00 pm on race day.

Points/Photos

Points for the 2012 MARSOC Hard Corps® Race Series awarded to the top 10 overall males and females in both military and civilian categories. For Camp Pendleton active-duty, points go towards the Pendleton Cup. Photos will be posted the week following the event at www.brightroom.com.
