Brief Description

MONTANA EVENT

You might call it the first marathon in the west, Lewis & Clark's Corps of Discovery Expedition in 1806. Much of the journey was spent in Montana, and now you have a chance to retrace the footsteps of the explorers as you run the 2010 marathon near Bozeman. Yellowstone National Park is 90 miles away, and the course, much of it above 5000' elevation, affords breath-taking views of 4 mountain ranges. Complete your own personal journey of discovery!

Marathon course

The marathon starts at on Jackson Creek Rd, partly paved. A downhill stint on Bridger Canyon Rd leads to a gravel section on Kelly Canyon Rd full of hills and views. The route passes Ft Ellis archeological site and heads into town on Kagy. Several in-town trails break up the pavement and add a few more hills. The finish is on the MSU track. The half marathon follows the last half of the marathon course, beginning on Kelly Canyon. See website for full details, lewisandclarkmarathon.com
