The Race Against Extinction is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to generate greater awareness of the need to protect our planet's endangered plants and animals, raise money for the habitat preservation funds of established international conservation groups, and - perhaps most importantly - have FUN!
Come celebrate Earth Day by joining us in The Race Against Extinction 5K Race. We are looking for Cheetahs (experienced and first-time runners), Tortoises (walkers), Gazelles (inline skaters), Kangaroos (parents with strollers), Wolf Packs (runners or walkers with their pets)! and Sloths (those who cannot or will not be running, skating, walking or moving in general on April 22nd but would like to support and help protect their fellow species!). The race begins at 11:00 AM on Sunday, April 22, 2012 in scenic Artesani Park just off the Charles River in the Boston/Brighton/Cambridge area. Timing provided by RaceWire. The entry fee is $25.00 and proceeds will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund. Race entry includes a membership to WWF. Come join us and make a positive impact for Earth Day this year!
We encourage all types of athletes and non-athletes to participate. If you have never run a timed race before, here is your chance. If you think that you are fast you have a great chance at winning one of our coveted lost and found and recycled Hub Cap trophies by placing first in one of our many categories. The Race Against Extinction tries to ensure that it's events are as green as possible including our the fabled lost, found & recycled Hub Cap Trophies.
