Brief Description

The race is run primarily on 4 wheel drive dirt fire roads. There is one very long hill, spectacular views of the nearby Eastern Sierras, the Buttermilk country, and the entire Owens valley. Conditions are dry, often hot in the afternoon, with high altitude, exposure and vertical gain. Runners need to be prepared to stay hydrated, with sun protection and shady hats. Frequent access to drop bags will enable runners to change clothing, shoes or pick up supplies.

Additional Information

The 20th annual presentation sees the continuing interest in the 100k event. We have added a 6 mile out-and-back section at the 48.5 mile mark (Tungsten City aid station). There will be an additional Aid Station (Sage Summit) 4 miles further on, which will be used twice. Runners will take a numbered poker chip at the turn-around point, and prizes will be awarded if that number is selected. We plan to offer about 6 prizes at the finish line. The race is famous, and justly so, for the superb runner support offered, the well-marked and accurately measured trail, and friendly small town atmosphere.
