Proceeds from this event benefit the purchase of emergency medical equipment for St Joseph Hospital, formerly known as New Island Hospital.
The race honors the memory of Navy Seal Lt. Michael P. Murphy. Lt. Murphy was awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism in combat along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border.
