Brief Description

The Wineglass Marathon is a point-to-point course from Bath, NY to downtown Corning, NY. It is a fast and fairly flat course with an overall net elevation drop of about 200'. The course runs through several small towns and along scenic country roads. The half marathon starts at the halfway point of the full marathon course. This location is at the local high school in Campbell, NY. The half marathon follows the Wineglass course to the finish in downtown Corning, NY.

Wineglass Marathon Registration Limits

The 30th Wineglass Marathon will close registration at either 2,000 runners or on September 24, 2011 (which ever comes first). If registration closes by reaching 2,000 runners, a waiting list will be maintained. Runners will be notified if a slot opens up no later than 9/24/11. Paper entries can only be accepted for the wait list. Entry fees will be returned if not cleared from the wait list. Paper entries are available at the Wineglass Marathon web site. .

Buses

Buses from the Finish to the Start Line prior to the race are complimentary. Bus departures begin shortly after 5:30 am with the last departure at 7:00 am sharp! There will be separate buses designated to go to the full marathon and half marathon starting areas. They will take runners to their respective start line areas only. Please be sure to get on the bus to the Wineglass Marathon start line

Pace Teams

Pace Teams (similar to 2010) will again be present for the Wineglass Marathon. Please check on the Wineglass website for more details as we get within 6 months of the marathon.

Runners' Expo

The Expo for the 30th Wineglass Marathon and Half Marathon will begin on Friday afternoon (09/30) and go through Saturday (10/01) this year. Location has been changed to the Corning YMCA. More to come by e-mail and on the Wineglass Marathon web site.

Benefit/Donation

A portion of each entry fee will be donated to the local Red Cross and the Health Ministries of the Southern Tier for their ongoing efforts in supporting emergencies and those less fortunate in the local area.

Additional Information

All Runners in the Marathon will receive a Wineglass Marathon long-sleeved high-tec shirt (Asics), commemorative/unique Glass Finisher's Medal from Hand's On Glass (different medal for each event), Pleasant Valley NYS Brut Champagne with commemorative silk-screen Wineglass Marathon logo and race date, and Commemorative Wineglass Marathon "wine glass". Marathon finishers will receive a finisher card/certificate in the mail.

Post Race Party will be held in the park near the finish line with plenty of food (pizza, chicken soup, string cheese, bagels, cookies, applies, bananas) and drinks. Showers are available at the adjacent YMCA in downtown Corning

Because our course is a point-to-point race the best option for runners traveling without a non-running driver is to park at the Finish area and take a bus to the Start in the morning. This eliminates the need to wait until the afternoon for buses to go back to the starting area to get your car.

Buses will be designated for either the full marathon start line or the half marathon start line.
