Brief Description

Our loyalty to those who protect our freedoms will be experienced by everyone through the pageantry of Chicagoland’s most inspirational running event. Every mile is themed with the nine values of the armed forces. At the start, you will stand shoulder to shoulder with those who are defending our United States of America. Whatever your level, our two distances of 9.11 miles and 9.11 kilometers (5.6 miles) will allow you to delve deep within yourself to achieve a personal milestone.

The We Do Care Mission

We Do Care is an Illinois 501 (c) 3 non political and grass roots non profit organization founded in 2004. Our mission is to provide tangible opportunities for the American public to thank and support active duty military personnel, their families, and veterans while appreciating the freedom unique to our country.

Registration

Register in advance with Active.com through 9/9/2009. Race Day registration available Saturday morning 7:30-8:45am for no additional fee.

USATF Sanctioned & Certified (9.11 mile)

We know a quality race is important to you, and that is why both our races have been sanctioned by USA Track & Field. In addition, the 9.11 mile course is USATF certified. Both courses follow a rolling scenic path through the streets of the Village of Barrington south to the preserve area at Bakers Lake. All three events begin near Barrington's south Metra station parking lot (Lake and Summit). The route proceeds west of town into Barrington Hills.

DeVry University Sponsors Our Military

We Do Care is proud to partner with DeVry University to provide free and discounted entries for all Illinois National Guard "Citizen" solders who have returned from deployment, reservists, active duty, families of deployed, ROTC members, and wounded warriors. The partnership also provides veterans and military family members a 50% discount as you register. Awards

5 yr age groups. Medals to top 3 finishers each age group for each distance. Overall first place male/female finishers of 9.11 mile event also receive special flag award and post event VIP escort. Special military categories. Participation award for corporation with most entries.

Packet Pickup

Race packets can be picked up in the parking lot check-in table near the race start (Lake and Spring Streets) from 7:30-8:45. Packets include your race number, pins, and goodies.

"Care Package Senders to America's Defenders" support the men and women of the United States active military forces deployed to foreign shores through prayers, letters, and "wish list packages on behalf of all Americans".

Partner Organization-USO of Illinois

The mission of the USO is to enhance the quality of life of the U.S. Armed Forces personnel and their families and to create a cooperative relationship between U.S. military communities and involved or supporting civilian communities.

Partner Organization-Heart of A Marine Foundation

The Heart of a Marine Foundation provides comfort, support, financial assistance, and educational resources to improve the quality of life of military personnel n all branches of the United States Armed Forces, including veterans and their families.

Partner Organization-Heroes of Freedom Memorial

The Heroes of Freedom Memorial is dedicated to all men and women that have honorably served or lost their lives while serving in the armed forces of these United States during the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns in the War of Terror. The two acre site in Gurnee Illinois was dedicated in April 2005.

The Navy League is dedicated to educating out citizens about the importance of sea power to U.S. national security and supporting the men and women of the sea services and their families.

Additional Information

Our commitment is to support and thank our men and women in uniform, military families, and veterans. That is why we provide a 50% race fee discount to all those that have served our country as a member of the US Armed Forces and their family members. Those that are currently on active duty and those military family members who have deployed loved ones will have their race fees waived. And we can’t forget those who have made a commitment through ROTC – you young scholars will also have your race fees waived.
