Brief Description

A Saint Patrick's Day Fun Run through downtown Baltimore that visits Irish pubs in the process, finishing with a Guinness Party at Slainte in Fells Point.

Parking

There is two-hour parking on the residential streets of Fells Point. Those spots are usually hard to find on a weekend. However, the metered parking on Thames and Caroline Streets does not start until 10:00 AM, so you can park there up until 10:00 AM. If you plan on spending more time in the area, you can get up to four hours of extra time by paying the meter at 10:00 AM.

Awards and Random Prizes

First and second male and female to return after running to each pub will receive a gift certificate to one of the participating restaurants. There will be random gift certificates redeemable at participating Irish pubs.

Irish Olympiad Jackets and Flag Shirts

Special Random Prizes will include Irish Olympiad Track Jackets made by Brooks and Irish Flag technical running shirts. Extras will be available for sale post-run.

The Course

This is a different type of an event. We will assemble and start at Slainte's on Thames Street. Runners are to proceed to the Irish pubs on the itinerary in any order that they desire. It is probably a good idea to study a map beforehand to figure out where you might be headed! The shortest course...well, in past year's some runner's haven't been very motivated to go past the first stop before heading back to Slainte.

The Strategic Thinker

So some strategy is in the works here...do you want to go to the closest pub first, and maybe stand in line and lose time to get your bib number validated, or head out to the furtherst pub at top speed, and hope that the lines are thinned out as you work your way back to the finish?

Irish Pubs on the Route

Slainte's - Thames Street James Joyce - President Street Tir Na Nog - Pratt Street Pavilion Mick O'Shea's - North Charles Street close to the Washington Monument Lucy's (was Maggie Moore's) - Eutaw Street & Fayette Patrick's of Pratt Street - West Pratt and Schroeder-cross MLK Bld and go west to the B&O Museum and look across the street. BONUS POINTS - MacHarborEast

Safety Considerations

Since this is a "Fun Run", there are no police street closures. All participants are responsible for their own safety. In particular, that includes obeying all traffic signals, choosing courses that keep you off the roads, and yielding to oncoming traffic.

Question - Do I have to run the whole route?

No, you just won't be eligible to win a top-two finishers award. You will be able to win random prizes however, and you can still redeem your coupons at the participating restaurants later on.

Question - are coupons redeemable on St Pat's Day?

No, except for the pint of Guinness at Slainte. The Irish bars are slammed on St Patrick's Day, and will not be able to honor the coupons then. However, they will honor the coupons for a month after the run from March 18th to April 22. Make a point to visit on a less hectic time!
