Brief Description

Most memorable quote so far: "I love running hills, but that was mean and totally uncalled for." - Finisher in the chute, 2002

Wheeled vehicles prohibited on course

Due to the narrow, steep, winding roads wheelchairs and baby joggers are not permitted in this event. There are abrupt drop-offs, deep eroded streambeds, and old quarrys that border the course. Losing control of any wheeled vehicle on the 20%+ grades is easy and potentially deadly.

Parking Directions

Take Exit 7 to Druid Lake Drive. Take Druid Lake Drive to the first road on the right at the end of the lake. Bear right and follow the lake around the reservoir until parking is available. Do not block the course while parking. Do not park on the Mansion House Loop. Limited parking is available by the swimming pool and the Stieff Silver Building.

RRCA Club Affliation

This event has been added to the Maryland Road Runners Clubs of America Grand Prix Series. You will be prompted to enter an RRCA Club affiliation (N/A is a choice). If you ran the club challenge in February you should use that club. If you belong to a listed non-RRCA club and wish to designate them, please do so.

Premium Tech Shirt

This race offers a premium tech shirt. As of this writing, the material has yet to be defined. More to come later.

Additional Information

A torturous race by runners for runners through Baltimore's famed Druid Hill Park, beginning and ending at the Moorish Tower and traversing the most wicked hills to be found in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area. The shirt design in part was picked for 2005 because the lions could represent the three wicked hills in back of the zoo, which must be traversed twice on the out-and-back section of the course. In 2006 we went back to the dragon, a new design is in the works for 2009.
