Brief Description

The United States Coast Guard Yard will be hosting a 5K running event and Kid's Fun Run on April 24, 2010, which will be opened to all Coast Guard employees, contractors and to the general public. The event, which is being sponsored by the Baltimore Area Spouse’s Association, commemorates the life of DC3 Nate Bruckenthal who was killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom Operations in 2004.

Times

0700 - Morning Registration and Packet Pick-Up
0900 - 5k Run/Walk Begins
1000 - Free Kids Fun Run begins

Awards

Awards and prizes will be given to the top two Male and Female finishers in the following categories for the 5K race only;
18 and under, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
The best overall times for male and female runners will have their name placed on a plaque that will remain on the Coast Guard Yard.

Kids Fun Run

A free age based Kids Fun Run, participants will receive a ribbon. No registration required.
100 yard dash for 7 and under
½ mile for 8 -12

Amenities

Two water stops will be provided on the course. Also, complementary fruit and water will be provided post race.

100% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Nate Bruckenthal Open Door Baby Pantry. Click here for more information regarding this wonderful cause.

Food and Beverages

A plate with a hamburger, chips, and a drinks available for purchase for $3.00 after the race.

Nate's Open Door Baby Exhange & Pantry - A non-profit "pay it forward" charity sponsored by the GBACG Spouse Association, Inc. (501 (c)3 organization) created to help military and civilian families who support America's Homeland Security by providing FREE Baby Food, Diapers, Clothing & Furniture. Since opening its doors in 2005, more than 1700 military families and the civilian employees who support them have benefited with much needed items. Nate's Pantry also sponsors several community activities where school supplies, clothing and educational outreach for special projects are supported. Helping those who help America is the vision and mission of Nate's Pantry.
