Brief Description

Very scenic and challenging marathon course run mostly on trails, from Two Harbors to the finish in Avalon. Or choose a challenging 10K on paved roads through the hills of Avalon, a fast and flat 5K through town, and a Kid's Run for the little ones.

  • Marathon walkers: 6:30 a.m. in Two Harbors
  • Marathon runners: 7 a.m. in Two Harbors
  • 10K: 8:00 a.m. in Avalon
  • 5K: 8:45 a.m. in Avalon
  • Kids Run: 9:15 a.m.

    Make your hotel reservations early. This is a very busy weekend in Avalon and space fills quickly! Hotels or camping at both locations.

    Boat Travel

    If you do not have private transportation over to Catalina Island, you must book a reservation from a ferry company. Please do this early as boats sell out for this weekend. You can take a boat to Avalon or to Two Harbors (start location is in Two Harbors) from various departure points. Please read over the information on the Catalina Marathon website for complete information on this process.

    American Trail Championship

    Sign up now for the American Trail Championship and get an entry into the Buffalo Run Half Marathon and the Catalina Marathon at a discounted price. You will automatically be entered into the ATC and your times will be combined in both races and compared against other ATC participants in your division. Awards for top three in each division.

    Donations

    A donation to the Catalina Island Conservancy is included in the entry fee. A portion of the proceeds is donated to the Avalon Schools.

    52.4 Pacific Challenge

    The 52.4 Pacific Challenge represents the total number of miles in the Rose Bowl Half Marathon, Buffalo Run Half Marathon and the Catalina Marathon. For the 2008 Rose Bowl Half Marathon and 2009 Buffalo Run and Catalina Marathon, anyone who finishes all 3 races will receive a special finisher t-shirt. Awards will be given to the top 5 times overall in male and female. There is no charge or entry fee, we only ask that you check off on your online registration that you plan to do all three.

    Additional Information

    Awards go three deep in each age division and special divisions. Announcements will be made concerning special events, packet pick-up details, and other pertinent information you will need to know about concerning the race. Make your boat and hotel reservations now! Many places are already sold out.
