Brief Description

The SCAN Foundation (Skin Cancer Awareness Network) was founded by melanoma cancer survivor, Marilyn Fry. SOS 2011 is the 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run promoting safe fun in the sun, detection and awareness programs to help teach others that deadly skin cancers can be prevented. Sun exposure must be measured, but this does NOT mean total avoidance of the sun!!! Learn easy, affordable, and life saving measures you and your family may implement into the full enjoyment of the coming summer season.

Sign-in & On-site Registration

Begins at 7:00 a.m. If you are registering on-site, we suggest you arrive a little early to ensure you are ready for Race Start at 8:00 a.m. We accept only cash or checks.

Directions

Take Ashford-Dunwoody Rd North, off I-285. Slightly pass Perimeter Mall, take a left onto Perimeter Center West at traffic light by bank. Go to first light and take a right and proceed to Target if you drive in front of Target and the Manhattan Condos and go straight you will now be at the entry of the parking garage. We will be setup and the start and finish line wil be in the Target parking lot. There will be signs and volunteers to assist.

FREE parking! As you pass Target on your right, paking lot straight ahead. See Perimeter Palce map on web site. Click on Race Day Registration to see map of Perimeter Place. Infants in strollers & pets welcome.

Get Checked by A Dermatologist

Complimentary spot skin checks will be provided by board-certified dermatologists for all participants and accompanying friends and family from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Participants Will Receive

Participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt, beverages, bagels, muffins, fruit, barbeque, fruit smoothies, water and more. Drawings will be held for various door prizes for a donation to SCAN. For a donation of 1 ticket for $3, 2 for $5, 5 for $10 to SCAN Foundation we will have great prizes, such as Delta Air Lines Round Trip Ticket and Delta Sky Miles, Olay Gift Packages, sun safe clothing, and gift certificates from Perimeter Place restaurants and vendors, and more.

Race Day Packet/Number Pick up Location

Race Day Registration and Packet Pick-Up will take place at Perimeter Place in the SuperTarget parking lot where tents wil be set up.

MARTA AVAILABLE

Sandy Springs Marta Station conveniently located easy 1/4 mile walk to Perimeter Place. Comimg out of MARTA station walk towards Ashford Dunwoody Road towards Perimeter Mall. You will be going East on Perimeter Center West. You wil see Perimeter Place is on your left.

Donation to SCAN for chance at great Prizes

For a donation of 1 ticket for $3, 2 for $5, 5 for $10 to SCAN Foundation, you will have a chance to win prizes and/or prize packages. Prizes include gift certificates from area businesses and a Delta Round trip ticket and Skymiles.
