Brief Description

The Midtown Mile Road Race presented by Emory University Hospital Midtown is the opening event for the Midtown Festival of the Arts. Runners will take off from Colony Square in a 1-mile race down Peachtree St. to the Fox Theater. The race features one wave for competitive runners and another for fun runners, families, kids, and walkers.

Awards

  • Awards presented to the top two male and female finishers in these three categories: Open, Masters (40+), and Youth (12 and under).
  • One-of-a-kind glass awards created by local artist Matt Janke for adult winners. Go to: www.jankestudios.com to learn more about this Atlanta artist and his work.
  • Plus, T-shirts to all pre-registered runners & walkers.

Prize Money (sponsored by Colony Square)

  • $100 to the top male and female finishers in both the Open and Master's category.

Course Description

Accurate, wheel-measured 1-mile course down Peachtree Street. The road will be closed for traffic. The course starts at Colony Square and ends at the Fox Theater. Downhill the first quarter of a mile, "rolling hill" at second quarter, and last half-mile is flat or very gradual incline. (Note: strollers are welcome in Wave 2. Dogs are not allowed due to city permit restrictions)

Transportation

Marta (train): Take Marta to the Arts Center stop and head 2 blocks east towards Colony Square, corner of Peachtree Street and 14th Street. Volunteers will be at the train station to help direct. Driving: Parking available in parking deck and nearby neighborhoods.

Additional Information

After the race, enjoy the Midtown Festival of the Arts -- admission is FREE. Great artists and lots of food, beverages, and activities for everyone. All proceeds from the race will benefit quality-of-life and safety initiatives for Midtown Atlanta.
