Brief Description

5K Run/Walk, Bike Races and Cross Track on the streets of East Atlanta, benefiting the East Atlanta Kids Club. Includes intown closed course street bike racing for adults and kids, and a Cross Track Criterium (Road & Trail Bike Race) for adults. There's also a bike rodeo with cycling agility and safety challenges for kids, a health fair and a festival fun area with games, crafts and other activities for kids & families.

Distances and Start Times

5K Run/Walk: Start Time 8:00 am (all ages) Youth Races & Bike Rodeo 9:30am-12:30pm Age Groups 5-7 yrs/ 8-11 yrs (1 lap) & 12-15 yrs (2 laps). Kids will do 1st round (10:30am) and 2nd round (11:45am). Adult “Fun” Race Start Time 11:15am 2 laps (approx 1 mile). Cross-Track Races: Group B (Beginners Men & Women) -- 12:20 pm – 15 minutes + 1 lap. Group A (Advanced and Intermediate Men & Women) -- 1:00 pm - 30 minutes + 3 laps. Please Be ON Time. Race RAIN or SHINE.

5K Run/Walk Route

The Race will start at Portland Ave and Brownwood Ave. It will travel east on Portland Ave, south on Stokeswood Avenue, east on Oakfield Drive, south on Cloverdale Drive, west on Greenleaf Drive, southwest on Edgemore Drive, north on Shadowridge Drive, west on Greenleaf Drive, south on Stokeswood Avenue, west on Edgemore Drive, north on Gresham Avenue, west on Pendleton Avenue, north on Brownwood Avenue.

Course for Kids & Adult Fun Bike Races

From Brownwood Park the criterium course runs left onto Brownwood Ave, left on Pendleton Street, left on Gresham, left on Portland and left back to Brownwood Ave. Pendleton St is a 2-3% incline. Some speed bumps. No dirt course.

Cross Track Race Format

(Group A) Open to Men and Women (meeting USA Cycling Road Category & Cyclocross Categories 1-5 and MTB Categories Pro / Semi Pro/ Expert/ Sport). (Group B) Open to Men and Women beginners and race novices wanting to try some cross style racing! Payouts & prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place.

Cross Track Rules

Mountain Bikes, CycloCross, Road Bikes can compete. If you choose Road Tires - use CAUTION. (You can race in both the A & B races if you are capable of doing so for only an additional $10. You do NOT need a USA Cycling [USCF or NORBA] license to race any of the events that day.

Cross Track Course Info

The race is a blend of Road Crit, CycloCross and Short Track MTB. (Half the course on road and the other half on the South side dirt trails - hard/semi hard pack dirt - of Brownwood Park) Racers will head south on Brownwood Ave, left on Pendleton and right over the curb into the South Loop in Brownwood Park. Racers will do a loop in the south portion of the park and come back out onto Pendleton, then around the crit asphalt course back to the start /finish line. There are no dismounts.

Adult Fun Races

No restrictions on types of bikes, tires or wheels. All styles of bikes are accepted (Road, Mountain, Commuter, Track, Tandem, Unicycle, Recumbent!) The course does have rolling speed bumps so please use appropriate wheels. All racers must wear approved helmets. No dirt course. Back by popular demand: Prize for Funkiest Bike.

Parking Directions Link

Parking is available in the lots behind Graveyard Tavern (1245 Glenwood Avenue) and also next to Martha Brown UMC (1206 Metropolitan Avenue). You may park on neighborhood streets near Brownwood Park, but please do not park on the race course, which includes the streets on the north end of Brownwood Park (Brownwood Avenue, Portland Avenue, Gresham Avenue, Pendleton Avenue).

On Site Registration is available up to 15 minutes prior to race start time. RAIN OR SHINE. We will delay in cases of thunder/lightning or heavy rain.
