Brief Description

Dude, it's only a mile! The Morningside Mile is the first & only competitive mile race in Atlanta that awards its fastest runners with cash prizes! Runners of all skill levels from beginners to moms with jog strollers and competitive runners are encouraged to don their running shoes for what promises to be a fun race & great after party. CASH PRIZES

Cash prizes to M&F Overall ($200), Masters ($100) & Grandmaster ($50) winners. Local merchant gift cards to age group winners.

Awards for Elite Runners: Overall M&F, Masters M&F, and Grandmasters M&F.

Awards for Weekend Warrior & Family Mile: Overall M&F, Masters M&F, and first in age groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & over.

GREAT SWAG

Registered runners get a technical race hat (first 750 registrants), complimentary SweetWater beer at Doc Chey's OR frozen yogurt at Yoforia, commemorative pint glass koozie & other swag. All race numbers will be entered into a raffle to win prizes from Phidippides, Mizuno, Podium Multisport and other local merchants, so stick around after the awards ceremony because winners must be in attendance to claim their prize.

BLOCK PARTY (NOON - 2PM)

Invite friends and family to cheer you on and enjoy live music, food & fun at the finish line! Awards ceremony, Doc Chey's noodle eating contest, bouncy house, firefighter activities, local vendors, raffles & more. Meet Morningside business owners & neighborhood firefighters. NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION

Online registration ends Oct 12th midnight online or in-store at Phidippides until 7pm. Races in this popular Virginia Highland/Morningside neighborhood always close out early. Don't delay!

NO RACE DAY PICK UP FOR NUMBER!

Runners must pick up race number & packet Oct 8-13 at Phidippides - Ansley Mall. There is no race day pick up and runners without numbers are not eligible for cash prizes. 404.875.4268 www.phidippides.com.

PARKING

This is a point-to-point race. Race starts at intersection of Virginia Avenue and Lanier Boulevard, and ends on North Highland Avenue in front of Morningside Village. Recommend parking close to the finish line & walk/run to the start so you can enjoy the post-race block party. Please note that Morningside Village parking lots will be closed. On-street parking on Lanier Blvd, University Ave, North Morningside Dr & Cumberland Dr. Do not block driveways. Marta services the neighborhood.

RACE START

Runners should meet on Lanier Boulevard just north of Virginia Avenue. Runners will be escorted to the starting line.

PROCEEDS BENEFIT ATL'S OLDEST FIREHOUSE

October is National Fire Safety Month! A portion of race & event proceeds will be donated to the Atlanta Fire Foundation for the restoration of the Virginia Highland station #19. Over the years, lack of funding for proper maintenance on this 1925 historic landmark has resulted in termite damage to the staircase, holes in the ceiling, and standing water in the station due to poor drainage.
