Brief Description

2012 is the 30th anniversary of the FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen, and the 5th anniversary of FOOD & WINE’s charity initiative, Grow for Good, which supports local and sustainable agriculture. To celebrate, Bobby Flay will host a 5K Charity Run benefitting Wholesome Wave.

Registration & Packet Pick-up

Online Registration ends Wednesday, June 13 at Noon. On-site Registration will be available: Thursday, June 14 from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., located at 425 Rio Grande Place. Friday, June 15 from 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m., location at Rio Grande Park Credit cards only, no cash accepted.

Run with the Chefs Start Time

6:30am Meet & Greet at C9 Tent - Warm Up with the Chefs, 6:45am group photo opportunity, 7:05am Start Time

Race Only Start Time

7:15am Runners Only Start

Race Categories

Run with the Chefs category: VIP registration bag, Official Race Tshirt, signed cook book, group photo opportunity at race start. Race only category: Registration bag, Official Race Tshirt.

5K Route

The race will begin on Mill St. and Rio Grande Pl. Racers will run South across Mill St. and turn West on W. Bleeker. Head North on N. Monarch and continue West on W. Hallam. North on S. Garmisch, West onto W. Francis, then North onto Lake Ave. Racers will turn West on Gillespie towards the Aspen Meadows Resort on Meadows Road. At the Aspen Meadows, the trail will turn to dirt for .4 mi. Racers will turn East on the Rio Grande Tr. for approx. 1 mile back to the Rio Grande Park.

Restrictions

Sorry, no baby joggers or strollers.

Getting to the Race

Athletes are encouraged to use public transportation or walk to get to the race site. From Ruby Park, take the Hunter Creek bus (:00, :20, :40) to Clark’s Market bus stop, next to Rio Grande Park.

Parking

Parking is available in the public parking garage, across from Rio Grande Park. Access the garage from the corner of Main Street & Rio Grande Place. Pass the Recycle Center and Obermeyer Place, the garage will be on Left, next to Taster’s Pizza. There will be no access from Mill Street.

Registration Packet includes:

Registration Tote, Bib Number, T-shirt, and Timing Chip (Timing Chip must be returned at the finish). There will be NO bag check on site.

Timing

Colorado Race Timing will be providing all timing chips and posting the official race times at http://onlineraceresults.com/race/view_race.php?race_id=25738. All timing chips should be picked up at registration and returned at the finish line. There will be a $30 charge for any timing chips not returned at the end of the race.

Results & Awards

8:15 am: Official results will be posted after the race on the back of the Registration Tent in Rio Grande Park as well as http://onlineraceresults.com/race/view_race.php?race_id=25738. Awards will be announced for the top 3 Men and top 3 Women. All other categories will be posted on the results board.

Entertainment

8:15am: Our sponsor, C9, will provide a stretching area for all racers. The Aspen Club & Spa will be providing chair massages for racers.
