Half Marathon Closed
The Asheville Citizen-Times Half Marathon has reached its capacity and is now closed. Those who mailed entries postmarked no later than Sat, Aug 15 are guranteed placement in the race.
The 5K is still open and we encourage all those who were closed out of the half marathon to enter this race.
Courses
The courses for both races have been completely redesigned for 2009 to be safer for runners and less intrusive for the citizens of Asheville. The races will once again begin and finish in historic downtown Asheville at the Asheville Citizen-Times’ headquarters. For more details and course maps, go to www.citizen-times.com/race.

Packet Pickup
Friday, Sept. 11, 4-7 pm at Doubltree Biltmore-Ballroom in back of hotel (115 Hendersonville Rd.)
Saturday, Sept. 12, 6-7 am at Asheville Citizen-Times (14 O Henry).
We strongly encourage everyone to pick up their packets on Friday.
Race Information
Important race information will be emailed to all participants and posted on the race web site on Monday, Sept. 7. Please print and bring them with you to the event.
Shirts
The first 900 half marathon entrants and first 500 5K entrants are guaranteed to receive shirts. The half marathon shirt will be a technical running shirt and the 5K will be a short-sleeve cotton blend t-shirt.
Time Limits
All half marathon participants should plan on finishing the race by 11:00 a.m. Those still on the course at this time will have to stay on sidewalks and adhere to traffic rules until reaching the finish line.
First Aid & Aid Stations
Medical personnel will be available throughout the course and at the finish line. Portable toilets will be available behind the Citizen-Times building and at three locations on the half marathon course. There will be two water stations on the 5K course and one at approximately every mile after mile 2 on the half marathon course.
Refunds & Substitutions
50% of the race entry fee will be refunded upon written request to the race director (greg@gloryhoundevents.com) prior to September 4. As of Saturday, September 5, 2009 there will be no refunds. Substitutions will be allowed with written permission of the person no longer running up to Monday, September 7.
Directions & Parking
From I-240 W, take exit 4C. Turn left on to Montford Ave at the light at the end of the ramp. At the next light, turn left on to Haywood St. At the next light, turn right on to O. Henry Ave. The Asheville Citizen-Times is approximately 200 yards down O. Henry Avenue, on the right. From I-240 E, take exit 4C. Drive through the light at the end of the ramp on to O. Henry Ave. The address is 14 O. Henry Avenue. O Henry will be closed on race morning. Parking is available throughout the race area.
