Brief Description

The race will take place on the property of the North Carolina Zoo. The course will begin at the Africa Bridge heading across the parking lot to the Connector Road and North America Parking. After passing the North America entrance, participants will enter the Zoo’s visitor pathways travelling through North America and continuing on to Africa. Participants will finish at the Africa Amphitheater. The course features gentle hills and both paved and gravel visitor pathways.

Please park in the Africa parking lot. **Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time**

**Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time. Entrances and Parking areas will be closed off by 7:20am for the race. Late arrivals will not be allowed to participate for the safety of the other runners.** Kids' Fun Run - Bring your little "animals" for our FREE Kids' Fun Run to be held after the race at Hippo Beach. Every kid gets a prize!  Human kids only, please! Directions and Parking: Please visit our website for directions. Parking will be in the AFRICA parking lot near the entrance. Restrictions Race will take place rain or shine and the registration fee is nonrefundable. Participants must be able to complete the course within 90 minutes (~28 min/mile pace). Participants with strollers will have a delayed start due to space restrictions on the trail. Service animals only are allowed at the zoo - please leave all other animals at home! The race benefits the North Carolina Chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers. NC AAZK AAZK supports the promotion and implementation of zookeeper education and strives to make the general public aware of our concern for all deserving conservation projects and the need for the preservation of our natural resources and the species that depend on those resources.
