Help a Cause with the Super Run Race

When it comes to fitness, it's best not to take yourself too seriously.

Sure, things like safety, competition and effort are important, but you should be having fun too, yeah? If you align with this school of thought, then you'll definitely want to you keep your eyes peeled for The Super Run, a national 5K launched earlier this year.

Here are a few reasons why you'll want to get in on the action.

First of all, costumes! As the race title suggests, the run encourages participants to feel super by donning their best superhero swag. Crazy colors? Check. Tutus? Yep. Capes? Yep. In fact, thanks to SuperflyKids—the group famed for making custom superhero gear—every participant gets their own totally awesome cape.

But the "super" race isn't just about looking the part. In addition to looking like you're going to save the day, you actually will help do just that for a number of incredible causes.

In addition to the race's national charity, the American Association for Cancer Research, the Super Run partners with non profits in local communities in which the runs are held—which add up to being quite a few thanks to the its coast-to-coast schedule. This helps raise awareness and of course, helps raise money.

Want to get a charity of your own involved? You can even go online and add your charity to the list of other that the Super Run already supports.

Finally, each run includes a 5K and a 1K, so there is seriously no need to feel intimidated. (Remember the part earlier about just having fun?!) As for the logistics: The Super Run has a few scheduled races, but many of the dates have yet to be nailed down. So keep an eye on The Super Run's site so you know exactly when to grab your tickets.
