Benefitting three children's charities in the area, the Tuscaloosa Half Marathon began as a way to honor the loss of life and property in an EF4 tornado that ripped through the area in 2011. Starting in front of the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, the course is an out-and-back loop bringing runners back to the amphitheater for a post-race party complete with massages, entertainment, a kids area, and free barbecue and beer.
