Brief Description

On Thanksgiving Day the Arlington Turkey Trot begins at 8 a.m. at Christ Church of Arlington (CCA), 3020 N. Pershing Drive (intersection of Pershing and Highland Street, about 1/2 mile South of Clarendon Metro). It provides an opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy a fun, healthy Thanksgiving activity together, and to raise support for three local charities: Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless, Doorways for Women & Families, and the Arlington Food Assistance Center.

The Course

We will stuff the starting line near CCA then waddle our way through the Lyon Park and Ashton Heights neighborhoods. Final flaps will once again occur at Lyon Park where we’ll reunite with all the other turkeys for race results and prizes.

Runner Support

The Turkey Trot has been approved by Arlington County, and the Arlington Police Department is working closely with CCA to ensure safety. Police and volunteers will help guide runners/walkers around the turns and divert automobile traffic from the route. Medical personnel will be on call for treatment, if necessary. A water station will be positioned shortly after the 2nd mile marker, and both food and beverages will be available at the end of the route.

Pershing Dr, Arlington (Walk-in Registration). T-shirts aren’t guaranteed to those registering after Nov. 1. During race week Nov. 20-24, higher rates apply, registration isn’t guaranteed, and credit cards NOT accepted.

EARLY BIRD — if received by Nov. 1. T-shirt guaranteed. REGULAR — if received by Nov. 19 RACE WEEK - after Nov. 19 Rates include $3.25 service charge. FAMILY rates (Early $83.75, Regular $93.75) with mail-in form only to CCA, 3020 N. Pershing Dr, Arlington, VA 22201-1628. A “family” must include Parent(s) and children 17 or under. Please mail all entries together, on-line registration is not available. Family will receive maximum of 5 t-shirts.

Award Ceremony

The prize ceremony will be held at Lyon Park (414 N. Fillmore Street, Arlington, VA) following the race to recognize the top three male and female finishers overall and the top three male and female finishers in multiple age groups. No stroller prizes. The ChronoTrack B-Tag timing device will be used this year to determine finishers’ times.

Accepting canned and dry food and baby product donations on race day, along with gift cards to local grocery stores for the charities to distribute. Timing and Certification

The 2011 Arlington Turkey Trot will use ChronoTrack B-Tag timing device. Also, the course certified as 5K by USA Track & Field.
