Additional Information
More than 4,000 children are diagnosed with brain and spinal cord tumors in the U.S. each year. These children must undergo grueling treatment including brain surgery (often multiple times), chemotherapy (for up to several years), radiation therapy, and much more.
Tragically, 40 to 50 percent of the children diagnosed do not survive and those who do are often left with mild to severe deficits, disabilities and lifelong challenges.
The Brain Tumor Foundation for Children’s fundraising goal for this event is to $200,000; 50% of which will go towards a promising pediatric brain tumor research project and 50% of which will support BTFC services that include
· Emergency financial assistance for families of children on treatment
· Books and informational materials for parents
· Social and emotional support programs
· Educational scholarships for pediatric brain tumor survivors.
We will have plenty of food and fluids, games and face painting for the kids, awards for the top finishers in the 5K and ribbons to all finishers in the 1-Mile.....it will be a memorable day for all!
