Brief Description

Proceeds support the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). TAPS is the 24/7 tragedy assistance resource for anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one, regardless of the relationship or circumstance of the death. TAPS provides peer based emotional support, case work assistance, crisis intervention, & grief/trauma resources in addition to their annual National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp. TAPS has assisted over 30,000 surviving family members.

Theme of the Event

This event is in honor and remembrance of our Fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines, regardless of the circumstances of death.

For further information call the Race Hotline at (301) 871-0400. Strollers, baby-joggers, dogs, and headphones are not permitted on the 5K course. Please be considerate for the safety of the group.

Commemorative T-shirts

Everyone will receive an event t-shirt! Please be sure to include t-shirt size on the registration form.

Age Groups and Awards

Our event has 5 year age groups as follows: 19 and under, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, and 70 and over. The fastest two men and women overall will receive awards. The first man and woman in each of the age groups will also get an award.

Registration Notes

Please register before the registration closing date of Wednesday, April 18, 2011 at 3 PM ESDT, as the National Park Service does not allow for the collection of entry fees on Park property.

Directions from DC, Arlington or Maryland (North)

Cross Potomac River if coming from DC or MD and take GW Parkway south toward National Airport. Go Past National Airport and into Old Town Alexandria. GW Parkway now becomes Washington Street. Stay on it. After approximately 2 miles, Washington Street becomes the GW Parkway again and you will see the river on the left. Go 1 mile and make a left into Belle Haven Marina. There are two signs on the right before your turn.

Directions from Springfield

From the Beltway take Route 1 South. Stay in the right lane and follow the signs for Ft. Hunt Road. At the end of the golf course, turn left onto Belle Haven Road (Stop light). Follow to end (stop sign) and turn right on the GW Parkway (Mt. Vernon Highway). Make first left (100 yards) into Belle Haven Park, proceed straight to marina.

Directions from Beltway in Maryland

Cross the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and get in the right lane. Take the Mt. Vernon exit and turn right at the stoplight. Go 1 mile and make a left into Belle Haven.
