Brief Description

The Charity Charge 5K will benefit Gifts In Kind International, a nonprofit whose mission is to help companies help charities. Following the race, everyone is invited to a nonprofit fair, exhibiting 20+ nonprofits who make an impact in the community. There will also be food and entertainment. As a participant, you can donate to one of the local nonprofit agencies participating in the community fair. Please email charitycharge@giftsinkind.org to let us know who you are supporting.

Spectator Info

Spectators are welcome to roam about the venue. Walking is permitted in all areas. There will be vendors with food, a nonprofit exhibit fair, and live entertainment at the race start and finish.

Directions

Address: 4001 Eisenhower Ave. From I-95/495: Take Telegraph Rd north (Exit 2B). Turn right onto Pershing Ave, right on Stovall St, left on Eisenhower Ave. Follow signs to onsite parking. From Alexandria: Take Duke St (Rte 236) toward I-95; turn south on Telegraph Rd, stay in right lane. At Hensley Park sign, exit right onto Mill Rd, turn right. After 400m, turn right on Stovall St, then left on Eisenhower Ave. Follow signs to onsite parking. Metro: Take Yellow Line to Eisenhower.

Race Route Information

This is a flat fast course that will take you through the Eisenhower Valley area of Alexandria, VA. The course will start and finish in the parking lot of Cameron Run Water Park. The participants will run through beautiful Ben Brenman Park, around lakes and over streams, and loop back to the Water Park.

Want to support a local nonprofit participating in The Charity Charge? Email charitycharge@giftsinkind.org to let us know who you'd like to support. We will donate $10 of your registration fee to that organization. The remaining amount of your registration fee will go to Gifts In Kind International, a nonprofit whose mission is to help companies help charities.

Additional Information

PRE-RACE PACKET PICK-UP: Friday, October 8th 1:00pm-7:00pm Gifts In Kind International's Offices 333 N. Fairfax Street Alexandria, VA 22314 All ages are welcome; however those under 18 will be required to provide parental consent. Race will be held rain, sleet, snow, or shine. There will be no refunds. We have elected to forgo the use of gel packets. The plastic individual packets are non bio-degradable and litter up the trails and landfills. The City of Alexandria Department of Environmental Services is providing recycling bins we will be positioning around the venue. PLEASE use these bins for your recyclables or take them home with you to your personal recycling bins. Please make sure your bib # is on the outside, front of you and very noticeable during the race. No runners except registered racers will be permitted on the course. There will be access to public restrooms at Cameron Run Water Park. Lockers will not be available, so please be aware of the security of your personal belonging. Racers will not be able to transfer registration. To be guarenteed a t-shirt, you MUST register for The Charge 5K before 7:00pm on September 22, 2010.
