Brief Description

Join us on September 26 for the third annual Dash for Dad Run, a 10K race to support ZERO's mission to eradicate prostate cancer through awareness, outreach, advocacy and research. Late registration is available Sunday morning.

About ZERO - The Project to End Prostate Cancer

ZERO challenges the complacency of American men to change their attitudes about early detection as the solution for prostate cancer through awareness, outreach, advocacy and research. The Washington, D.C. metro area leads the country in prostate cancer death rates.

More About Prostate Cancer

Nationwide, a man dies from the disease every 18 minutes. But there is hope - education about prostate cancer risk and access to screenings can save countless lives. All proceeds will go to prostate research and free screenings in the Washington, DC area to those at risk.

About ZERO's AWARE Newsletter

ZERO's AWARE newsletter is the resource for the latest news regarding prostate cancer prevention, treatment and research. This free newsletter reaches 30,000 men and their families every week in an effort to help them stay healthy and guide them along their treatment and life with prostate cancer. To sign up go to the Web site www.fightprostatecancer.org.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers. Prizes will be given to the top 2 finishers in the following age groups: 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over. There will also be random awards during the post-race ceremony - you must be present to win random prizes.

Packet Pickup and Weekend Registration

Register in person or pick up your bib, t-shirt, and transponder timing tag on Friday September 24, from 4 to 7 pm at the Pacers store located at 1101 South Joyce St in Arlington or Saturday, September 25, from 11 am to 3 pm at Pacers located at 1301 King Street in Alexandria.
Race day registration will be available from 6:30 to 7:45 am at the AMC Hoffman Theatre.

Picking Up for Your Friends and family

We do allow runners to pick up bibs and t-shirts for their friends. Please note that t-shirts cannot be mailed. You will not need to show us your ID or copies of their ID to pick up for them.

ChronoTrack Timing and Scoring

Transponder timing operated by Capital Running Company will be used to score the 10K race. The system uses a computer "tag" which must be tied to each runners' shoelaces, and records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line and the finish line, resulting in a net time for each runner. Overall awards will be based upon clock time and age group awards will be based upon transponder times.

Hazardous Weather

While every effort will be made to conduct the event, the race will be cancelled if the weather is judged to be hazardous to the safety of participants and spectators. Entry fees will not be refunded if the event is cancelled.
