Brief Description

Gijima Racing LLC would like to invite you to experience the 2nd Annual Rio Grande Half Marathon. A major portion of the proceeds will benefit Special Olympics New Mexico. You can also sign up for the 5K Run/Walk. OVERALL MALE AND FEMALE WINNERS IN BOTH THE HALF MARATHON AND 5K RUN RECEIVE A FREE PAIR OF MIZUNO SHOES!!!

Here's What's New This Year

All Early Registrants who register on or before June 30th will receive a Mizuno technical t-shirt. All Rio Grande Half Marathon participants will receive finisher medals. The Rio Grande Half Marathon will begin 30 minutes earlier at 6:30am to beat the heat. All Kids K participants will run for free. (A $5 charge will apply to only those wishing to receive a race t-shirt) There will be separate award ceremonies for the Rio Grande Half Marathon and 5K Run participants.

Packet Pick-Up

Friday, August 12th from 4:00pm - 6:00pm and Saturday, August 13th from 11:00am - 5:00pm at Sport Systems located at 6915 Montgomery NE ABQ, NM 87109 Race Day Packet Pick-up and Same Day Registration at the National Hispanic Cultural Center Sunday, August 14th from 5:30am - 6:00am

Registration

Early Registrants who register on or before June 30th will receive a Mizuno technical t-shirt. Regular Registrants will receive a 100% cotton t-shirt. Registrants at packet pick-up and race day will NOT be guaranteed a race t-shirt. Active.com registration will close on Thursday, August 11th at midnight Pacific time. Those who wish to register after that date can come to Sport Systems during packet pick-up or on race day until 6am.

A Great Cause

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Special Olympics New Mexico, which provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with mental challenges (intellectual disabilities), giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
