The University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy, American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) and American Parkinson Disease Association-New Mexico Chapter (APDA-NM) are teaming up to host the Parkinson's Run/Walk for a Cure. Come have fun and help us raise awareness and support for Parkinson's!
$25: Before Aug. 22, 2010. $30: Aug. 22 - Sept. 11, 2010.
$30: Sept. 10-12, 2010 at packet pickup locations (see Early Packet Pickup below for more info) and on race day at the starting line from 7:00-8:15 am. T-shirt availability may be limited if registering at packet pickup or on race day.
People with Parkinson's walk for free! Complete the online registration and select "People with Parkinson's Register Here" as the registration category.
If you are not interested or capable of participating in the run/walk but would like to make a donation, please go to the "Online Donation" link at the bottom of the page.
Proceeds from the run/walk will go to the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA). Donations and sponsorships will benefit the APDA-NM Chapter for programs and services in New Mexico.
T-shirts and race day information will be available for pickup on the following days: Friday, Sept. 10th from 11:00 am-7:00 pm at the Apothecary Shop near the corner of San Mateo and Montgomery. Saturday, Sept. 11th from 9:00 am-12:00 pm at Phil's Pill on 5510 Lomas Blvd NE. Sunday, Sept. 12th at the starting line prior to the run/walk from 7:00 - 8:15 am. ***Participants are encouraged to pick up their packet on Friday or Saturday.***
From I-25, take exit 225 toward Lomas Blvd/Menaul Blvd/Candelaria Rd. Turn east on Lomas Blvd (0.7 miles). Turn left on Yale Blvd NE (0.2 miles). Turn left on Tucker Ave NE. Parking is available on the south side of Tucker in the "M" lot.
The course is a compact dirt trail that goes around the perimeter of the UNM North Campus Golf Course. It is mostly flat with some hills and is about 1.5 miles long.
In addition to the run/walk, there will be booths set up with general Parkinson's information for the public, resources for patients, and fun activities for kids of all ages.
