Doggie Dash & Dawdle

November 8, 2009 is the 27th Annual Doggie Dash & Dawdle, Animal Humane's largest fundraiser. This is a day that raises funds for the pet residents at Animal Humane while bringing the community together for fun, exercise, food, entertainment, and dogs! Come and join the tradition.

Event Highlights

Doggie Dash & Dawdle is fun for the whole family. Flying Star Cafe will provide goodies for every human participant,visit pet product vendors and breed and animal rescue groups, play at Dash Bash: A Carnival for Dogs, and more!

Booster Club Online Fundraising

A fundraising page will automatically be created for you once you register online! You can then personalize your page, and invite your friends & family to make a donation online.

Booster Club Prizes

-Raise over $100.00 to receive an Animal Humane Tote
-Raise over $500.00 to receive an Animal Humane Limited Edition sweatshirt plus the above.
-Raise over $700.00 to receive an Animal Humane Limited Edition Jacket plus all of the above.
-Grand Prize: The top fundraiser will receive all of the items above, and you and your dog will be named Grand Marshals in Doggie Dash & Dawdle 2010!

Booster Club Captains

To register a Booster Club Team, somone must act as the Captain and click on the Booster Club Captains - Create Your Team link.
After submitting your Team Name, make sure to continue on & register for the event. Your Team Name will show up in a drop down box on the registration form.

Booster Club Members

After your Booster Club Captain has created your team name, click on Register Now and select the Team Registration option. Be sure to select your team name from the drop down box on the form.

Race Start Times

5K Human Only Dash 9:00 am
5K Animal Friendly Dash 10:00 am
2 Mile Dawdle 11:00 am
Registration begins at 8:00 am the day of the race

Child Price

12 and under:
$10 on or before Oct. 30th
$15 after October 30th including the day of the race.

Rent-a-Dog

Animal Humane will bring adoptable dogs to the event! Come visit with the wonderful dogs that need a permanent, loving home. Don’t have a dog? You can rent one at the Animal Humane Rent-a-Dog booth for $10…or adopt for a lifetime.

Timed Runners

Timed dashers in the 5K's are eligible for prizes based on overall male/female times and male/female/age group times. The fastest time in each timed group will be awarded a race medal. The overall best times will receive a plaque in addition to an REI Runner’s Prize Pack. . Be sure to pick up a chip on the morning of the race.

    This is a USATF Certified five kilometer course. Awards will only be given to timed participants running without a dog.

    5K Animal Friendly Dash 10:00 am

    This is a USATF Certified five kilometer course. Awards will only be given to timed participants running with a dog.

    2 Mile Dawdle 11:00 am

    As the most popular event, this two mile course is for all ages and canine breeds. This is a noncompetitive race.

    Directions and Parking

    To get to Balloon Fiesta Park, exit Alameda from I-25 and head west. Turn north on Balloon Museum Drive and follow the signs. Parking is free! Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your event to get ready to dash and dawdle.

    Bringing your Dog

    Although it is not a requirement to bring a canine partner it sure adds to the fun. Dogs must be kept on a leash (6 feet or less) at all times. All dogs must be current on vaccinations before attending. No extendable leashes, please. Any dog considered unfit or dangerous to other competitors may be withdrawn from the event by Doggie Dash staff.

    Packet Pick-up

    Every participant receives a race packet that includes a race bib, a doggie surprise, and an event t-shirt. Please note that t-shirt sizes will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
    Pick up your packets on Friday, November 6th from 3:00pm-6:00pm or Saturday, November 7th from 9:00am-2:00pm at REI located at 1550 Mercantile Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM.
    You can also pick up your packets at Balloon Fiesta Park on the day of the race.

    Microchip Clinic

    Animal Humane will be hosting a microchip clinic from 9:00am to 1:00pm. You can get your dog chipped for only $20 during the event.

    Event will take place rain or shine. As in the past, we anticipate hundreds of dogs and thousands of people. Participants will be able to view and order event photos from Legends Sports Photography.
