Brief Description

Portage Lakes Fireworks RUN TO THE BEACH Half Marathon, 5k and Relays is April 20, 2013 at 9 a.m. Course is run around Portage Lakes State Park and in the Cities of Green and New Franklin. It winds around many of the Portage Lakes and Nimisila Reservoir, with a large portion of the course waterfront. And it ends on the beach.

April 19th, 4 - 8 PM at Dano's Lakeside Pub 3910 South Main St. Akron, OH 44319. Packet pickup also race Day Morning (April 20st), 6:45 AM - 8:30 AM at Event Site

Additional Information

This is an Ohio Challenge Series event. Race is run primarily on roads with some flat beautiful waterfront and ends on the beach at Portage Lakes State Park. Awards for top five overall male and female half marathoners and 5k runners and top three overall relay teams in coed, male and female categories. There are also masters and grand masters overall awards. Age category awards are for the top three in the following age groups: Half: 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. 5K Run: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. Walkers: Top 10 in each gender. Half marathon preregistrants until 3/38 will receive jackets and relayers and 5k participants get men's or women's technical t-shirts. Commemorative medals will be provided to all finishing half marathoners and relayers. Great big goodie bag. Proceeds benefit the Portage Lakes Fireworks, the largest privately funded fireworks in Ohio.
