Brief Description

Please come run or walk with the people generally described as amongst the friendliest in the world as we take bold steps to save our own lives. Dedicated healthcare and medical personnel will be on hand to perform free health screening, including visual and dental checks, and to provide advice on exercise, diet and nutrition. Participants will also enjoy free massages from trained physio- and massage therapists.

Registration rules & requirements

Entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and entries are NON-TRANSFERABLE. No exceptions. Once we receive and accept your entry, you will NOT receive a refund if you cannot participate. You may not give or sell your race number to anyone else, and your entry cannot be transferred to a different race or to the following year.

Raise money for a worthy cause and earn a free roundtrip ticket to Ghana from the U.S., Europe or Canada.

Location Info

The event will be held in September, one of the mildest weather months for Accra, to coincide with the many festivals that also take place during that month. The route will start in Prampram, end in Accra, and include stretches of the beautiful beaches between these two cities.

Requirements

You must be able to complete the marathon run or 1/2 marathon walk in 6 hours or less. Course support ends 6 hours after the official start of both events.

The signature of a parent or guardian will be required for all participants under 18 years of age on race day.

You must be in good health & physically prepared for whichever event you enter.

You must have your race number bib to participate.

Starting from the unspoiled scenic beach town of Prampram through the port city of Tema and ending at the popular La Pleasure Beach in Accra 26 miles away, the Accra International Marathon (AIM) has great potential to truly develop into the “beach to beach” marathon of Ghana’s capital city. The vision of AIM is to attract national and international participants to a world-class marathon running and walking event in the nation’s capital and to be a fundraising vehicle in support of The Longevity Project (the Project). The mission of the Project is to increase the life expectancy and quality of life of Ghanaians. The prevailing life expectancy is approximately 58 years.

Locally resident Ghanaians should check with race organizers or the nearest Regional Sports Council Office for subsidized fees and terms.

In appreciation for all you contribute to society, Peace Corps Volunteers, Japanese Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, and similar volunteers based in Africa receive a special discount to register in the marathon, half marathon, or 4-member team relay. You will be required to show a valid PCV, JOCV, or other appropriate Volunteer ID at packet pickup.
