and sports. Walt Disney World is a magical place where children of all

events provide a high voltage weekend filled with fun and competition

Event Highlights
One of the best aspects of the WALT DISNEY WORLD Marathon Weekend is
that there is a race option here for runners of all ages and abilities.
You are sure to find one that is just the right challenge for you and
every member of your family! Marathon and Half Marathon participants
will receive many unique extras including commemorative Champion Race
Technical shirts, especially themed Kodak single use cameras, Disney
entertainment, custom finisher’s certificate, goody bags, post race

Marathon
Runners in the full marathon traverse the delightful 26.2-mile course
that winds through four theme parks. The course Starts at Epcot, where
fascinating discoveries of science and technology meet in a remarkable
combination of amusement park and world’s fair. Runners continue
through the Magic Kingdom, the heart and soul of Walt Disney World with
its sparkling sidewalks and beautifully landscaped grounds. Home to
many major crowd pleasing attractions as well as Disney character
meet-and-greet locations, the Magic Kingdom is not a small world after
all. Marathoners are in for a treat as they continue their wonderful
journey to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, with acres and acres of
savanna and a wildlife preserve. One sight that is sure to inspire
runners is the magnificent Tree of Life that rises 145 feet, towering
over all other trees. Next stop is Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a
re-creation of Hollywood as it might have been in the good old days
complete with art deco storefronts, palm trees, pastel buildings and
flashy neon. Runners can expect an exhilarating marathon finish at
Epcot with inspirational music on the home stretch, and the highly
coveted Mickey Mouse medal at the finish.
Half-Marathon
The half-marathon is the perfect distance for first timers as well as
more seasoned runners. If you want to get your hands on the Donald Duck
medal, this is the way to go! Half marathoners will take their mark and
draw their inspiration from Donald Duck on Saturday, January 9th for
the 13.1-mile course through Walt Disney World as they step into a
world of fantasy and timeless adventures starting at the Magic Kingdom
and finishing at Epcot, a fitting tribute to a world in which you can
touch tomorrow and travel the world fueled by the power of imagination.
Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge
Looking for a running challenge that is off the charts? Let Goofy be
your guide in this two-day race format. Run both the half-marathon on
Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday for a combined total of 39.3
miles. It is only fitting that this kind of endurance and bravery
should be rewarded with the one and only, and now most coveted Goofy
medal.
Family Fun Run
Why not get the whole family involved in the fun and fitness of
running? The 2010 Family Fun Run on Friday, January 8th is the perfect
way to let everyone get in on the action and thrills. This 5K course in
the Walt Disney World Resort has no shortage of magic and adventure.
Participants will receive finishers medallions, Disney theme t-shirts,
post race refreshments, goody bags and more.
Mickey’s Marathon Kids’ Festival
You will be delighted to watch the young ones have their healthy fun in
these just-for-kids races. Get ready to smile as those triumphant faces
cross the finish line. Children 13 and under can participate in races
ranging from the Mickey Mile to the Diaper Dash. All kids’ races take
place at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex on Friday, January 8th
and Saturday, January 9th starting at 11:00 a.m. Participants will
receive a Disney themed t-shirt, finisher’s medallion, goody bag and
more.
