Runners can meet the coaches & learn more about the program at information meetings at St. Andrew's Church in Mt Pleasant on Tuesday, Sep. 7 at 7 pm and at the Park Circle Community Center in North Charleston on Wednesday, Sep. 8 at 6.30 pm. Registration for the marathon or the training program is not required to attend the information meetings.

Cancellations and Refunds

The minimum number of participants is 10. If there are less than 10 registrants, you may elect to receive a full refund with an option to work with one of the coaches in another setting. Runners drop out of training for a variety of reasons, all of which are valid but the decision to drop the training is always the runners'. For this reason, the Charleston Marathon has a policy of not issuing refunds once training meetings have begun.

Additional Information

“We're really open to anybody who has been running consistently for at least a year,” said Coach Greg Shore, Director of Training. “Anyone who has been running for a year and who can do a long run of at least 10 miles when we start should be able to complete the program. Our goals is for all of the athletes to get to the start line healthy, to finish well, and to have fun.” All runners will receive a training plan geared to their ability level. The group will gather for a supervised and supported long run on Saturday mornings. Other scheduled runs will be done by the athletes on their own. Runners will receive advice on race preparation, hydration, nutrition, race tactics, and injury prevention.
