And exciting event where you can choose your adventure. You can register for the 5k run/walk, or you can go all out and sign up for the full experience!
Come join us for a fun day in the Laurel Highlands while supporting a great cause! We are hosting the first annual Firemans Adventure Race and 5k Walk/Run. The event takes place in the small town of Rockwood, Pennsylvania. The 5K can be run as a standalone event and includes some elevation changes as well as over a mile of wooded trail. The 5k will start and finish at the Rockwood Fire Hall. The kayak leg of the race is on Coxs Creek and the Casselman River. This section is over rocky riverbed and may either include some shallow sections or some mild whitewater (class I-II) depending on river level at the time of the event. If you do not have your own kayak, we have Duckies available for $20 and must be requested in advance of the race. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a ducky. The bike section takes place both on public roads as well as on the Great Allegheny Passage. The trail portion is on crushed limestone path, the roads are paved. Following the race we will have live entertainment, food and beverage, awards, vendors, as well as a kids obstacle course. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Rockwood Fire Department and the Rockwood Area Merchants Association. Youth registrations will also benefit the Rockwood Schools Track Team.
