About This Activity

We have 2 programs offered this year:
 
1. INTRO to Triathlon
NO EXPERIENCE Necessary. For kids 6-12 years old.

2. Performance Team 
For those with expereince in triathlon (prerequisites below). For kids ages 9-12 years old. (Details below) 
 

 

1. INTRO to Triathlon
 
WHO: 
 
Youth ages 6-12
WHEN: 

Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30pm 

June 7th – June 28th

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

WHERE: 

Veteran’s Memorial Field (“Vets”) in Ridgewood. Meet on the grass next to the playground. Look for the RTA flag. GPS: 125 N. Maple Ave, Ridgewood, NJ 07450

What to Bring: 

Bicycle, helmet, sneakers, water

There will be one designated “swim practice” during each program. On this day participants will need to bring a swimsuitgoggles & towel in addition to what’s listed above.

*What we do: 

Having fun and learning is the name of the game!

Each week we will lead a Bike, Run, “Brick” or Agility/Flexibility workout. We will also work on age appropriate bike handling skills. We will provide instruction on transition, form, and endurance as well as provide the basic triathlon knowledge and “lingo.”

Participants will be divided into age groups and will have their own dedicated coach(es). The workouts will be scaled to the ages and ability level for the participants

*We will cover something different each week, but key points will be revisited. It is OK if participants miss a session or two.

 

All INTRO Participants Will Receive: 

-Team RTA water bottle

- Team RTA transition towel

-Option to purchase Team Kit (uniform)**

 

(**Team Kit are custom, made to order and have a 5 week turn around)

 

2. Performance Team

WHO:

Kids ages 9-12

WHEN: 

Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30pm 

June 7th – June 28th

Prerequisites:

-Completed at least 3 youth triathlons

-Access to a bicycle w/ gears

-Demonstrates interest in triathlon

-Self motivated & committed

-Swim 100 yards (continuously)

-Bike 5 miles (continuously)

-Run 2 miles (continuously)

Similarly to the INTRO program, each week we will lead a Bike, Run, “Brick” or Agility/Flexibility workout. Emphasis will be on advancing fundamental skills and building endurance

While having fun is still a primary objective, there will be a more focused environment.

*We will cover something different each week, but key points will be revisited. It is OK if participants miss a session or two.

 

Performance Team Participants Will Receive:

-*10 week Training Plan w/ “on your own” workouts*

-RTA Water Bottle

-RTA Transition Towel

-**Purchase of Team Kit (uniform) optional
