The EKU The Color of Maroon 5K is a five kilometer fun run in which we blast you with a rainbow of different colors so bright you'd have to wear sunglasses at night.
There is no timing or placing in this run. So whether you want to run, walk, hop, skip, roll, or flop...we have the 5K for YOU!
We ask that all of our participants please wear white attire, as you are the canvas and we are the artists, and by the end of this event, you will all be one enormous masterpiece.
The mission of this event is to provide a high energy event unlike any other to the campus of Eastern Kentucky University and the community of Richmond, Kentucky. This event is designed to get people active in a positive and healthy manor. It is our goal to provide clean family fun in which everyone can participate in the same event at the same time. So no matter if you're 6 years old or 96 years old, come out and have a colorful time with us! You won't regret it, we guarantee it.
Children 7 and under receive free participation, and family participation is highly encouraged.

Parking will be located primarily in the Alumni Coliseum commuter lot located just off of the Eastern Bypass (876). Additional parking will be located on the south side of campus across the Bypass. We advise that participants arive no less than an hour prior to the event (around 9:20am) in order to help this event flow smoothly. Traffic may become heavy in and around campus, so please plan accordingly.
Portable restrooms will be provided at the event. There is no baggage check at the event so please do not bring large objects or bags. No food is necessary at the event, refreshments will be provided at the finish line on us.Event schedule and times
Day before Packet Pickup will take place in Mid-Powell building from 4:00-9:00 on Thursday and 6:00-9:00 on Friday (11/21 and 11/22) prior to the event.
Day-of Event Registration/Packet Pickup opens at 8:00am sharp.
Volunteers working registration on the morning of the event should arrive no later than 7:45am and parking will be in front of the Fitness & Wellness Center for those working the event. This lot will be closed down at 9:00am to secure the route for the event until approximately 12:30pm.
Pre-run Zumba begins at 9:45am.
Start time is set for 10:30am and will be immediately followed with the finish-line finale *aka afterparty*
The finale will continue until there is not one ounce of color left to throw, so bring your throwing arms.
Participants will be entered into a drawing for free giveaways which will occur approximately every 10 minutes during the finale, so please stick around and enjoy the party.
