The 5k course meanders through the scenic Nicolet College Campus on the shores of Lake Julia in northern Wisconsin surrounded in fall color. There will also be a children's half-mile, free of charge, which you can register for the day of the race. There will be activities for children, music and food as well. The Nicolet College Foundation will hold the Run to Remember and Family Fun Day fundraiser Saturday, Sept 21, 2013, to raise money for scholarships in honor of Kory Dahlvig, a Nicolet graduate and former Vilas County sheriffs deputy who lost his life in an on-duty traffic accident. The event on the Nicolet College Campus will feature a 5K run/walk with participants lining up at 9:45 a.m. and the race beginning at 10 a.m. The line-up for the half-mile childrens event will take place at 10:45 a.m. and start at 11 a.m. The Northwoods Childrens Museum will host free family fun activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration fee for the 5K is $25 before Aug. 24 and $30 after that date. The childrens run/walk is free. Proceeds from the event will go to scholarship weve created to honor Kory and the service he provided to the Northwoods, said Heather Schallock, executive director of the Nicolet College Foundation.
