This is a 2-day course taught on the Hiwassee River in Reliance, TN at the foothills of Cherokee National Forest. The Hiwassee River is 5.5 miles of Class I and II whitewater; perfect for a beginner paddler.
The course features an evening 2½ hour lake skills instruction from 5:30pm – 8:00pm+/- on a weekday evening. Then we will commute to the Hiwassee River for the weekend to continue the training. We will be tent camping at Gee Creek Campground.

Items You Need To Bring:
• Camping Gear or Hotel in Etowah 10-miles into town
• Backpacking Style Lunch for the River and Money for Breakfast and Supper
• One liter of water
• Waterproof snack (Cliff Bar®, etc.)
• Water Shoes or Old Tennis Shoes
• Bathing Suit/Board Shorts and Synthetic Under-layers if its below 85 degrees
• Sunscreen and Sunglasses (Eyeglass Strap so you don’t lose them)
• Small Dry Bag to Keep your Food in While on the River

• Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
• Directions and Map to Lesson(s)
• ACA Certified Whitewater Canoe Instructors
