The classes are taught at the Stanford Sailing Team’s Boathouse by our US Sailing Level 2 Certified Instructor using the beginning and intermediate US sailing materials. The three consecutive days of sailing and instruction are great for sailors who have not sailed for awhile and need a refresher course, as well as those who want individual attention to develop their skills to the next level. Also, if you’ve crewed a lot on boats and are ready to learn to skipper so you can take boats out on your own… this is the class for you! Topics covered in the classes include: rigging, knots, wind direction, rules of the road, docking, safety position, tacking, jibing, points of sail, capsize recovery, overboard recovery, getting out of irons, upwind sailing, and racing. Completion of all three weekends of classes will earn you a US Sailing Small Boat Sailor Certification, which can be used to rent dinghies around the country. The times for the classes are Fri: 4:30-8pm, Sat:1-5pm, and Sun11-3:30pm.
