20th Annual Women's Distance Festival 5K

About This Activity

The North Carolina Roadrunners Club presents the 20th Annual Women?s Distance Festival 5K. Our charitable partner is Interact, a private, non-profit agency whose mission is to provide safety and support to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and to promote violence-free relationships and communities through collaboration, public information and advocacy. We are proud to have supported this cause for the last 20 years.

Last Year's Results

Last year Rita Beard led the field of 122 women over the Dix Hill course. Lori Tackman was the top master finishing in 24:51. Since this was the first time this course has been used for the WDF, both are automatic course records.

Location

This will be the second year that the WDF 5K will be held on the beautiful Dorothea Dix Campus located near the State Farmer's Market in Raleigh. This is a rolling and beautiful course with exceptional views of the downtown Raleigh skyline, the State Farmer's Market, and the Historic Dorothea Dix Hospital property.

Starting Times

The Women's Only 5K is the first event of the day beginning at 8:30 am. The Recreational 5K (open to everyone) will begin at 9:00 am. The children's free events a free 1/4 Mile and 100 yard dash events will begin as soon as the 5K events have completed. Registration for the children's events will be held the day of the race in the registration area

Entry Fees

Women's-only Competitive 5K is $25. The fee for the Recreational 5K is $20 . Children's 1/4 mile and 100 yard dash are free - register at the race.

T-Shirts

The race shirts will be a cotton blend unisex shirt so pretty true to fit as standard t-shirts. Sizes available will be XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL. All runners registered by by Friday, September 6 at Noon will receive a shirt. If you register after that date, extra shirts will be available for an additional $5 after race registration closes on race day at 8:30 am on first come/first serve basis as an additional fundraiser for InterAct.

Awards

In the Women's-only 5K. awards will be presented to the top three finishers overall, to the three masters overall, and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70-over. Additionally, medals will also be given to all finishing the Competitive 5K as well as to all kids finishing either of the Kid's Runs.

Late Registration/Packet Pickup

Late entrants can register and pre-registered entrants can pick up their race packets at Capital Run/Walk in Cameron Village on Friday, September 20, from 4-7 pm, and also at the start/finish area on race day beginning at 7 am.

This race is also the goal race for approximately 80 participants in the NCRC Women's Beginner Running Program. We encourage the formation of teams of women to come together support one another and wear their organization's t-shirts. Strollers are allowed, however we ask that anyone running with strollers or very well controlled animals to start at the back of the line up and work your way safely through the race.
