The scenic, waterfront, single-loop course will feature the very best of beautiful downtown Punta Gorda's breathtaking Harborwalk. Participants will run on pathways lit by the remnants of an August full moon before climbing their way to a rooftop finish complete with unsurpassed views of Charlotte Harbor.
Proceeds to benefit 1-2-3 RUN
Proceeds will go to the development of 1-2-3 RUN, a program committed to developing the sport of running within Punta Gorda area schools. 1-2-3 RUN will connect students at Sallie Jones/East/Deep Creek Elementary (1) and Punta Gorda Middle School (2) with Charlotte High School (3) by providing young runners with a preparatory foundation in running fundamentals, etiquette and sportsmanship.
Unisex technical race shirt for those who pre-register by July 26th (while supplies last after July 26th); Chip Timing; On-course aid stations; ; Custom awards for overall male/female, youth 14 & under, master, grand master, senior grand master and 3-deep age groups; Finish line festivities will be provided courtesy of the Celtic Ray and will include fish & chips, beer and music!
Runners, joggers and walkers are welcome. You must be able to complete the 8k course (4.97 miles) maintaining at least a 17 minute per mile pace. The finish line will close at 11:45 p.m.
What happens if it rains?
There is no rain date for Hot August Nights 8k. If there is lightning in the area, the race will not be held. We will, however, attempt a delayed start if it appears that the weather might clear. The final decision to cancel/delay the race start will be made at the sole discretion of the Race Director. Should inclement weather manifest during the race, the Race Director reserves the right to cancel the remainder of the race, adjust the course length or adjust the start/finish location.

Packet pick-up will be available at The Foot Landing on Thursday, August 22nd from 10am to 6pm; Friday, August 23rd from 10am to 7pm; and Saturday, August 24th from 9am to 9pm.
Timing Chip Pick-Up
Your timing chip will not be in your packet pick-up bag. You must pick up your timing chip at the timing chip table on RACE NIGHT. Chip pick-up will be available from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Take your bib to the chip pick-up table and make sure that your bib number matches your chip number. Your chip needs to be attached to your shoe for the duration of the race and then returned to the timing company once you cross the finish line. Again, please remember... no chip, no time.
There are absolutely no transfers, no deferrals and no refunds. All proceeds go towards 1-2-3 Run.
Parking will be available in area city parking lots. Please look for signs directing you to parking as you enter the downtown area. We are discouraging parking in the parking garage, as we will be using this as part of the course. Additional information regarding parking will be furnished as race draws near.
